View Full Version : I love Durant, I love LeBron, but they'll never be Jordan no matter what they do

I feel like every year LeBron or Durant or Curry or whoever does something amazing and the conversation starts, but the truth is they will never be recognized as the best. Jordan is the absolute gold standard and that is not changing for a very long time. He managed to survive Shaq, Kobe, LeBron, Durant, Curry, etc. Durant is phenomenal but realistically he'll never challenge Jordan, LeBron as absolutely amazing as he has been he didn't quite reach the summit and the hourglass has ran out. I don't see anyone in the near future challenging or surpassing Jordan's rightful spot at the very top of Basketball.

It's impossible,

Jordans standards were different, the will to win, to defend , to trash talk, to attack, the almost 50" vertical, the winning dunk contests, the 6 championships, no losses in finals, the bulls culture, the development of all the other bulls players, the gold medals in the olympics, the charisma, the space jam movie, the battles at madison square garden, the battles vs the bad boys, the threepeats, the many records broken, defensive player of the year, The first basketball player to become a billionaire ...., The list of achievements never stopped with M.J.

No , none of the others come close, but it's ok, because there is only one GOAT and his name is Michael Jefferey Jordan.

Some of those names have similar numbers in the playoffs, but Jordan did it en-route to 6 rings. Consistency is what separates MJ from the pack. With that being said, if you're just arguing peak, KD has a good argument for BEST pure scorer. For his height, that handle and range is unfair.

He was great pre injury. If you're talking rings, it's not exactly impossible LeBron gets a couple more.

I'm arguing everything. Peak, prime, longevity, etc. Jordan had the best peak, best prime, had amazing longevity and there has never been and athlete in the history of sports that savored the moment like he did. LeBron probably came as close as any player ever has or ever will but he did not get there and now it's too late. The NBA should be eternally grateful that Jordan exists because sometimes it's hard to believe, it's hard to believe that someone existed that was greater than the legendary LeBron James, the legendary Kobe Bryant and the great Kevin Durant but that man existed and his name was Michael Jordan.

Wilt Chamberlain holds 72 NBA records, 68 by himself. Among his records are several that are considered unbreakable, such as averaging 22.9 rebounds for a career or 50.4 points per game in a season, scoring 100 points or 55 rebounds in a single game, scoring 65 or more points 15 times, 50 or more points 118 times.

And if we're counting championships, nobody can touch Bill Russell. 11 championships total, with a high of eight in a row.

We shouldn't forget some of these players.

OP is a fat mexican. Just like 3ball he wanted to go back to the 1990's. He's having a mid life crisis.

Here is Jordan if he plays in today's NBA. Failed to led the Spurs in the playoffs.

I take it you think no-one will ever be better than Jordan? "no matter what they do" sounds like the talk of MJ stans I've heard many times over. The future is still playing out and it's fine to share opinions but to claim it like it's fact is kinda weird. Unless this is bait.

Also no bronze medals.

Also a dynasty for the franchise that drafted him and never won prior to arriving while Lebron won 1 title in 11 years.

He's going to form another super team I have no doubt but he's done winning as "the man." 2nd fiddle rings don't mean sh*t.:hammertime::dancin:hammertime:

And looked at the teams that he defeated in the nba finals. Those teams sucks. Michael Jordan when he faced a super team he was like 0-6 against Larry Bird, and 1-3 in a playoffs series vs. the Bad Boys Pistons.

One good performance doesn't make up for all the monumental embarrassments he's put up. How much longer are you going to try to convince yourself LeBron is the GOAT?

And his skills were complete, no weaknesses, maybe you can argue his 3 pt shooting but it just wasn't a big part of his game.

If someone told me MJ was part alien, I would say I knew something was up. Watching that man at his peak, he looked like the most confident, human being on the planet.

Durant still could IMO. Him and Hakeem are the two most skilled big men in NBA history, and Durant's game could translate well into his late 30s, barring another major injury.

All these "carry-jobs" that you see from KD, Paul George, Luka or Donovan Mitchell - Jordan did that for 6 rings, and he actually had LESS scoring help than all these guys

Only Jordan beat top 5 SRS teams with total trash from his sidekick
