Why hasn't anyone made this obvious connection?

Giannis is basically Wilt and vice versa.

I just watched Giannis finger roll it in the basket by pure athleticism.

This is Wilt.

Giannis is the same kind of insane lanky athlete with the same defense and the same basic, but effective offense.

Wilt's fadeaway data in the games we have available of him are

1/3 Celtics vs Warriors 1960 RS

1/1 Celtics vs Warriors 1959 RS

1/1 Celtics vs Warriors 1961 RS

0/1 Celtics vs Warriors game 2 of 1964 finals

1/2 Celtics vs Warriors game 4 of 1964 finals

2/8 Warriors vs Lakers 1964 RS

2/3 Warriors vs Knicks 1964 RS

2/2 Warriors vs Knicks Wilt masked.

4/6 Warriors vs 76ers 1964-1965 RS

1/5 Celtics vs 76ers 1964-1965 RS

1/1 Celtics vs 76ers game 1 1965 ECF

1/2 Celtics vs 76ers game 6 1965 ECF

1/2 Celtics vs 76ers game 7 1965 ECF

3/3 game 3 of 1964 NBA finals.

1/2 game 4 of 1964 NBA finals

6/7- game 5 of 1964 NBA finals.

0/2 game 4 of 1967 ECF

0/2 game 6 of 1967 NBA finals

28/53

52.8 FG

A percentage of 52.8% is amazing and those are 10-16 fadeaway jumpers usually that Wilt was taking.…..

His worst games shooting wise with his fadeaway shot are shortly after his heart attack in the 1964 offseason and his game vs the Lakers in 64 when he had an injured leg.

It is crazy to think Shaq shot 70% from 0-3 and only 40% from 3-10 feet while Wilt was shooting 50+% from 10-16Ft

Wilt truthfully might be the GOAT fadeaway shooter alongside Dirk and every bit of footage we get of him shows us how skilful of a player Wilt truly was

No other all-time great has had a weaker supporting cast around him in the playoffs than '64 Wilt. The Warriors finished 3rd in SRS with a rookie Nate Thurmond and players like Wayne Hightower, Tom Meschery, and Guy Rodgers leading in shots. Wilt had a .325 WS/48 in the regular season (3rd all-time), and his .323 WS/48 playoff run is 4th all-time in the Shot Clock Era.

In the WDF, with his team playing poorly, Wilt put up 38.6 PPG on a +7.8 rTS%.

In the Finals, he finished with 29.2 PPG on a +2.4 rTS% against the greatest defence of all time. Only one other player (Tom Meschery) shot above 35 FG% in that series.

This year Kevin Durant had a spectacular performance against the Bucks--he played heavy minutes while his team was injured and/or playing poorly. This was basically Wilt Chamberlain every postseason before '67, and Wilt was doing it against far superior competition than the '21 Milwaukee Bucks.

The mixture of scoring, passing, rebounding, and defence that Wilt provides is so impactful to a team which is why you can not compare him to Giannis at all.

I’ve examined all of Wilt's footage that is available to the general public at the moment and collected data as well as numerous clips that showcase what I believe to be a very underrated aspect of his game on the defensive end.

Games I tracked:

1 steal - 76ers vs Celtics ‘67 EDF Game 3 (2nd half)

0 steals - Lakers vs Knicks ‘70 Finals Game 7

1 steal - Lakers vs Bulls ‘71 WCS Game 6

3 steals - Lakers vs Bucks ‘72 Reg season

1 steal - Lakers vs Bucks ‘72 WCF Game 3 (part) along with 9 blocks

Cont.

3 steals - Lakers vs Bucks ‘72 WCF Game 4

3 steals - Lakers vs Bucks ‘72 WCF Game 6 (part) along with 9 blocks

1 steal - Lakers vs Knicks ‘72 Finals Game 5 along with 8 blocks

3 steals - Lakers vs Knicks ‘73 Finals Game 5 along with 2 blocks.

Total:

2.13 steals per game in 7.5 games

3.33 steals per game vs. Kareem in 3.0 games

Keep in mind, a bulk of these games are from the later rounds of the playoffs.

The footage we have of Wilt shows him averaging Hakeem-like steals along with 7 to 9 blocks a game which is just insane defensive impact.
