I would be surprised if all 50 or so of those still missing aren't dead. That was a pancake collapse at 2 in the morning and the Mayor of that town stated that the building was near full capacity.

Would be interesting to find out how and why this happened. Building was built 40 years ago and I'm sure the other buildings around them were built around the same time.

The thing about Miami is that everyone goes after cheap labor. Miami is an expensive city, but everyone tries to undercut one another and you're probably hiring someone or some company with unfavorable reviews just to save a few bucks. Maybe there was some renovation going on and these idiots damaged a critical point of the building and everything came down.


Also, Florida is the sinkhole capitol of the world apparently.

Which part? These types of architectural/catastrophic failures rarely ever happen in the US because of how strict our regulations and code are. There's money to be made in safety regulation and the 3rd parties/city/state that abide by it

Apparently the inspectors had warned about this building before, but nothing had been done. I hope the owner of that building gets taken to court and put into bankruptcy as a warning to the rest of the country to not take warnings from inspections lightly.
