Kidd was humbled after his Milwaukee stunt and spent 2 years with the Lakers being a real assistant coach. Never taking the spot light.

Kidd had a large vocal presence with the Lakers behind the scenes and is respected by all the Laker players and coaching staff.

They all wanted him back as an assistant coach.

Horrible hire. Rick carlisle is laughing his ass off. U get rid of a hall of fame coach for a coach that flamed out in brooklyn and Milwaukee? I give him two years in dallas before shit hits the fan. Im sure luka will love him since kidd is going to give him a never ending green light but expect the mavs to regress as a team. They might not make the playoffs next season guys

Kidd is one of the best point guards ever and more important, he was great in moving the ball and not holding on to it.

In fact, Kidd is the best playmaker pr. time of possesion ever imo.

If anyone can teach Luka the value of moving the ball, then it's Kidd.

I also think it's probably a good idea to have less of a strict system coach at this point in Luka's career. Luka wants to ball out and have fun. This signals to Luka that the Mavs will give him the keys.
