I've thought of this before this thread was made, the West usually has a juggernaut in the Finals, I would say they would be the weakest west team to make the Finals in at least 15 years. You could make an argument that they are better than the '06 Mavs, and maybe one of those 90's West teams but that is arguable.

Those Mavs were a deep, deep team, actually they were very close to going up 3-0. After that game, they had a mental breakdown that costed them the title. And well, the refs also helped D-Whistle in the following games, many people claimed the series were rigged.

I don't remember them being deep, my memory is foggy, but I do remember the Dampier-Diop center combo which was underwhelming to say the least, their best bench player was Stackhouse who was pretty much hit or miss on any given game, very inconsistent.

The Suns and the Clips without Kawhi both qualify for that distinction. Same for the Hawks in the east if they got past the Bucks. As I said a few days ago, this is probably going to be one of the most improbable final series ever.
