Pretty stupid trade but I'm messing with some fun ones on ESPN's trade machine.
Portland gets two guys on long term max contracts. Keeps them competitive, but stuck and locked in for 4-5 years. They'd be a solid team with a quartet of CJ, Simmons, Nurk and Harris. Probably, at best, 50 wins. Most likely low to mid 40s. The hail mary longshot hope is that Ben turns the corner and becomes Giannis-lite, which is unlikely.
Philly gets a superstar perimeter player, and some quality defense and shooting. Enes, Norm, and Covington are on short contracts that'll expire in 1-2 years, so salary relief.
Portland gets:
- Ben Simmons
- Tobias Harris
Philly gets:
- Damian Lillard
- Robert Covington
- Norm Powell
- Enes Kanter
Lots consider Simmons and Harris a couple of the worst contracts in the league. But, what other offers could Portland get? Do they want to bottom out and hit the lottery for a few years? Or stay competitive?
What other great players would be offered for Lillard? Ingram? Porzingis? Jamal Murray? Kyrie? Jaylen Brown? An Indiana package combination of potentially any of Warren/Turner/Brogdon/Sabonis? Zach Lavine? Colin Sexton + Kevin Love + others? Buddy Hield? Anyone from Sacramento?
