I thought it was common knowledge that the NBA embellished players' heights and have been doing so for over 40 years. This was really brought to light with the '92 Dream Team whereas the official measurements of players was shown to be much different than their NBA listings. For instance, Magic had always been billed as a 6'9" pg when he was actually closer to 6'7"ish. I think the measurements also showed that Barkley was not much if taller than Jordan. Later on it was revealed that Hakeem, who was often listed as 7'0", was closer to 6'10".

Lebron measured 6'7.25" without shoes at the combine. Like a lot of guys his NBA listing was higher. This was at the discretion of the teams at the time, not the players.
