If I follow this case correctly, in 2005 this prosecutor didn't have enough evidence to convict Cosby criminally. Then he made a deal with Cosby that in exchange for a some sort of incriminating admission, he will drop the case and that admission can never be used against him in a criminal case. Why he made that deal was so that the admission can be used to prosecute him in a civil court and Cosby would be forced to pay millions of dollars.
