View Full Version : Steve Francis was hated on for being a ball hog and not a “true” point.

Seems to me we are on a golden age of non traditional points dribbling the absolute **** outta the ball then driving or finding a shooter at the last minute.

I think 2021 NBA might not see him as such an outlier. He could iso all day and get no odd looks.

Francis wasn't pioneer of the combo guard, plenty existed before him and during his career

Iverson, Dumars, Manu, West

His highlights were better than his game. Not that good as a playmaker or a scorer but had good highlights.

Teams now wouldn't turn their offense over to him like they do with Trae, Luka and Harden. Those guys are a tier or two above Francis.

How times have changed. He was one of my fave players back then.

He would probably be better now. The game is more suited for him now since the lane is more open and they can't get as physical with you anymore. I don't know about his shooting and shot selection tho. It might be still meh. But his finishing ability would be better and he was entertaining to watch.

Not combo guard no. That’s as old as the game.

You mean just PG with tunnel vision?

Volume shooter, low assist PG is kind of the combo guard formula

But some people claim Magic was a combo guard so it's w/e
