Do you think MJ had 10 scoring titles for no reason? It ain't exactly easy to be the scoring champion for nearly every season. On top of that, how about 9 First-team All-NBA defense?

Even with all the 3 point shooting, players cannot average more than Jordan in his prime.

More importantly, Jordan mastered the mental game. You have to remember, Steve Kerr called KD gifted. But did KD have the mental strength of Jordan? Not even close. Jordan mastered the game in his mind. There was no quit in him. He was determined and wanted to win. Jordan was a man. He wasn't a slouch. He garnered the respect of others. Jordan was a true winner whether you like him or not.

Oh boy..there's gonna boy an alt army having a sook a about this

But facts are facts
And that's the thing with mj...all you need is facts.

Bron stans need mental gymnastics and legacy boosting losses...whilst leaving out context and cherry picking data.

3ball legit said yesterday that Jordan's best Finals opponents weren't even as good as CP3's Lob City. So when you're beating competition that weak with a stacked team... Yeah...

Tell that to all the Bran stans that create thread after thread arguing for their boy...if it were that obvious, they wouldn't need to create thread after thread too, right?

Dude the irony is lost on them. They cement his case when they make a thread about a guy retired for 20 years.

Great point OP, I would add, all the 3-point shooting, higher pace, and less restrictive defense and players cannot average more than Jordan in his prime.

.
93' Jordan was clearly viewed as the Bulls' best defender, and even the LEAGUE'S:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GilQsS3oifM&t=02m47s

Here's the exchange in the 91' Finals between Marv Albert and Mike Fratello when MJ gets his 2nd foul in Game 2:

ALBERT: Do you stay with Jordan on Johnson?

FRATELLO: There's no question that he's the best guy to play Magic Johnson, but maybe you pick and choose when you put him on Magic..."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o8l6oM6Jeg&t=12m23s

^^^ this sentiment was echoed by the NBA in the Bulls' Championship Video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeAUz2dZ_NQ&t=35m03s

So Jordan doubled his sidekick's playoff scoring, while averaging more assists and assist percentagee, while also being the better defender - no one is close to this burden

Correct.

Jordan / LeBron debates will continue happening for another 30 years.

When the Jordan stans die off from old age it will be Bron the "Obvious that Bron is the greatest"

Lebron fans will get a taste of recency bias because old Lebron won't look so great next to guys that are winning rings like Giannis, KD or Booker - the media will eventually put Lebron at borderline top 10 to be safe, just like they did with Kobe.. Lebron's stiff arm already looks old-fashioned compared to these new guys.

That is the status quo. Does not have to be unanimous but majority of the people have MJ as the goat.

By that time, Zion or Emoni will have passed Lebron, and we'll be comparing them with Jordan.

I'll take Kareem Abdul-Jabbar having watched his era

i wouldn't argue if you opted for Jordan or Kobe if you missed the KA-J prime years

That guy that managed to retire three times in nine years had no quit in him? And when you say "no" quit do you mean "lots of."

if you don't become the goat or die in a helicopter crash people forget about you. I know because I sold a kobe autographed card for 100$ a few days before he died. then it shot up to 1000$

and kareem/russell/magic/bird/wilt never get brought up in real discussions. it was always kobe/mj or lebron/mj.. and lebron will get tossed aside and trashed by the media to boost the next mega star when he's gone like they did with kobe. it took him being torn into 1000 pieces of meat and bone in order to remember him fondly again

sad thing for lebron is he's gonna be one ugly mother f*cker as he continues to age. it's gonna be horrific. so nobody is gonna wanna see that guy after he's gone.

4 titles wasn't enough. maybe if he won 7. ok.... and if he got to 6 he may have had an argument to be in the conversation going forward. but 4 is just sad. shaq got 4 and nobody gives a sh*t. kobe got 5 and people still talk shit and say magic Johnson was better even though tragic aids f*g boy literally did less for his rings than kobe did.. he had the same 1 game breakout for his first title like kobe. then was the 4th or 5th leading scorer and 2nd assist guy for his 2nd title. and then stole the 88 title from the pistons through a rig job by the refs at the end of game 6. and then Kareem won him his 85 title. so realistically magic has 1 finals mvp and 4 titles. and the guy robbed mj for 2 mvps in 89 and 90. so he doesn't doesn't have more regular season accomplishments. nobody from the modern era will ever get over the guys that came before them unless they win 1 more title. you can't win less and just make more finals. kobe needed 6 to solidify himself ahead of magic. otherwise the guy that came before will get the nod.

so there's really no chance for lebron to pass mj cause he would need 3 more titles. that's simply not realistic at his age. only way it happens is if he takes a sidekick role and then he's disqualified since mj was the man all 6 times.

I dont see lebron winning 3 more finals mvps.. and even then he would have to prove to people that colluding and shortened seasons are legit. or suspensions are legit. or bail outs in do or die situations by teammates are legit.. because lebrons first 4 titles are practically worthless. he needs 7 of these trash titles just to be in the conversation after he's gone.

the goat debate will still probly.favor MJ

hes larger than life. hes world wide. he still makes Nike more money than lebron does. Jordan flew. he was a God. he was respected by everyone everywhere except by Isiah Thomas. he's literally the only guy on planet earth with a name and a resume that doesn't give MJ the credit he deserves..

if you wanna find someone disrespecting lebron you don't have to go very far.

lebron will need a major death wish in the near future like kobe had in order to live on. if not he's just another shaq/magic/bird with people happily moving on.

lebron doesn't even have the aesthetically pleasing highlights to keep.his name going like kobe. and we still saw kobes star fade post retirement. nobodies looking up lebron footwork videos. nobodies looking up 5 or 10 minute clips of lebron doing the same dunk every game. nobodies looking up lebron sexy shots compilations

at best they look up his big block. that's all he's known for. that's just not enough

Even after kobe and mike's retirements you would still listen to them talk. They're both smart dudes that genuinely care for the game. Lebron is not as smart. Not as eloquent. He fakes shit. When he talks it's like he is envisioning to say something that will be quoted in the future. And when he does, there is that stupid smirk on his face basking on what he just said. There is that vanity and fakeness to it. Plus, it's mostly just stupid stuff. So I don't know what more value Lebron holds for basketball after he retires.

Kobe quit on the Nets before they could even draft him. He chose to ride the bench his first 2 seasons in LA, instead of being the starting SG for NJ. He was ring chasing before he was even drafted.

Not impressed.

LeBron just won a ring in 2020, not even 10 months ago. All the new age fans literally saw the GOAT win the finals MVP and they are 10-15 years old now. For the next 30-40 years they will remember 2020.

Good thing we remember Jordan's Wizards years. I will never forget those years.
