View Full Version : Study says roughly 40% of the USA’s coronavirus deaths could have been prevented

Public health measures such as mask wearing and physical distancing could have saved lives but Donald Trump failed to create a national response and his actions caused a lot of citizens to fail to take it seriously.

after 600k US covid deaths, data and studies factually prove Donald Trump is responsible for 250k of them. and to think even that quarter million killed under his watch would have voted for him, it still would take 7.75 million more votes for him to win the popular vote

Trumpeters will do anything to throw things under the rug that happened while he was in office. He had many opportunities, but he was a horrendous president. He failed the people. He and his supporters can put up whatever childish temper tantrums they want, but it will not change anything. We will move forward as a nation and be perfectly fine.

If you only knew how bad things really are.
That account in particular is only a little over a year old. 5000+ posts and has created a thread during virtually every single hour of the day.
If I assessed the other accounts of the same person and then also looked at individual posts rather than threads created, I am confident that he has posted almost every single minute of the day, just here at InsideHoops alone. The amount of trolling and unaccounted for number of posts on other sites and other accounts is mind boggling.
Jokes aside? He's probably on disability and he's probably pretty ****ed up, be that physically and/or emotionally.
To be fair, he usually is asleep around 10 am and back awake by 1 pm EST.

Imagine if Congress had listened to Donald Trump about closing our borders rather than call him a racist and persist with the impeachment.
I'll never forget that witch Nancy Pelosi walking the shit-infested and needle-infested streets of San Francisco telling everyone it was safe to still go out and mingle. Who knows how many people she indirectly is responsible for killing for giving them such bad information.

While I don't think any of that has affected the amount of cumulative infections thus far (particularly in the US), Trump went against the grain by implementing travel bans. Later on, almost the entire planet copied Trump and implemented travel bans.
To this date, Trump's travel bans remain in place around the world. This speaks volumes to the amount of support people have for Trump's travel bans - even though they haven't shown to do jack shit.

List of things I would ideally vote for:
1) medicare for all- it actually saves money. We're getting killed by markup while the health insurance industry steals billions. Every other 1st world country has it. Our economy can support 600+ billionaires
and bail them out(which is a form of socialism), but whenever everyone else wants something. Nah, can't afford it. Also, m4all saves money. Health insurance and big pharma lobby against it because it's against their own interest, as expected. What is surprising is people actually buying it.

2) free education. Or reasonable education. In 1970 state college was about $50/semester while min wage was $1.60/hr
3) gun control. I own guns. They are fun. I don't carry them around like a mallninja, I have them in a safe and a pistol in a lockbox in my nightstand drawer. I support guns being legal, but we need more checks for irresponsible people being able to obtain them. I know, I know: New Hampshire.
4) environmental awareness. We're literally the only 1st world country that still have people who think global warming is a hoax, and they're convinced by moronic cherrypicked stats about weather being warmer or cooler during certain times. This is part of why i want more education, so people realize the best way to measure global warming is to measure increase in chemicals in the atmosphere that causes it

The "study" was simply a 4th grade math problem where they compared a few other countries to the US. If we matched the same number of Covid-19 deaths/pop as those other selected countries we would have 40% less.
And lol @ the Woodward clip.
j3lademaster, what was your point posting that clip?
What's the story here? That Trump downplayed all the doomsday idiots who predicted 20,000,000 Americans would be hospitalized for COVID? His instincts were correct, but Trump completely overreacted to the virus in March by following the quack science of Drs. Fauci/Birx/Adams
https://twitter.com/tomselliott/status/1304029136441282561
Trump saying, in March, he is purposefully trying to give people hope despite Covid being a deadly pandemic.
Dr. Fauci RE Woodward's fake news: https://twitter.com/DailyCaller/status/1303762016151232513
Dr. Fauci says that he never got the sense that President Trump was downplaying COVID-19:
"I didn't get any sense that he was distorting anything. In my discussions with him, they were always straightforward about the concerns that we had."
The fact is he followed Dr. Fauci's lead all year.

Good question. We know that he urged Americans to social distance & wear pointless masks, he wore them himself, and his own guidelines and team recommended them, so "prevented" really isn't the right word here... more like Trump was responsible for the lockdowns and masks due his own guidelines and Natl State of Emergency pouring out trillions of dollars in lockdown incentives. His War on Covid-19 had a 95% approval rating from Democrats. In fact, even as late as April 2021, 85% of Democrats were still begging Trump to lock them down harder - including OP and all his alts. Israel’s Health Ministry released data on Monday showing that the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine appears to largely prevent hospitalization and serious cases, but is significantly less effective against preventing the spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus.
According to the ministry, the Pfizer vaccine’s effectiveness in preventing symptomatic COVID-19 has dropped by some 30 percent to 64%, given the spread of the Delta variant. The data shows that during May, when the strain was less prevalent, the vaccine was 94.3% effective.
The Delta variant, which is believed to be twice as contagious as the original strain of COVID-19, is thought to be responsible for 90% of new cases in Israel over the past two weeks.
The data, however, also shows that the vaccine is still highly effective against preventing serious symptoms and hospitalization. During May, that figure stood at 98.2%, and during June, it was 93%.

Did you read my post? Fauci himself said he never got the sense that Trump was downplaying it. In fact, it was Fauci who said we should be more concerned about influenza and that the risk of Covid is minuscule. And there's plenty of evidence that Democrats and CNN downplayed the virus in February and March 2020. Are you not aware of the Democrats telling people to go out and stop worrying about the coronavirus:
Andria Borba reports on Rep. Nancy Pelosi paying visit to San Francisco's Chinatown to allay fears over coronavirus (2-24-2020) (https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/video/4460954-speaker-pelosi-visits-sfs-chinatown-to-show-support-amid-coronavirus-fears/)
But, again, those things aren't policy. Shit talking Jim Acosta and tweeting isn't policy. Trump's actual policy was a complete overreaction to the virus, and there has been a complete overreaction to the virus since March 2020.

I don't follow politics much, but it's clear that a lot of folks passed, and the problems imposed by COVID could probably have been avoided somewhat more had stricter measures been taken earlier on in the pandemic.
