View Full Version : Who would you save from drowning?? Your Dog or a Stranger?

You and your girl went out to the lake and took the dog with you. You rent a pontoon boat and you're just cruising around the lake enjoying the beautiful day. Suddenly, you see someone flopping around in the water and it looks like they're struggling to keep afloat. As you speed up the pontoon boat to reach them, your dog tumbles and slips off the back of the boat. You turn around and now you see him drowning.

Who do you save??

Assuming time is not on your side and you can only save one of them, who do you save?

Your Best Friend?

I'm 100% saving my dog first :lol The better question would be your dog or a child, now that is a brutal decision

its actually very dangerous to try and save someone from drowning cause they can latch onto you and bring you down with them. they panic and just try climbing you or pushing you under to keep themselves above water. I've seen a video of guy die trying to save some black guy from drowning. too risky. and dogs/cats can swim so I dunno why you would risk your life to save them lol. theyre good. and if it's a place they can't climb out of chances are neither can you

Leave it to this guy to only think about himself. WHO WOULD I SAVE? MYSELF! DON'T WANT TO RISK SOMEONE CLIMBING ME AND DROWNING ME IN DA PROCESS. We know based on your history that you only give a shit about yourself. And then you wonder why your life is so empty.

I still go with my dog in that situation.

OP can save both the dog and stranger because of his massive size, he could pretty much displace a massive amount of water enough to lower the water level for both victims at the same time.

Do you know how many people have drowned trying to save their dog from drowning? Its sadly an embarrassing amount of people. And in almost every case the dog swims to the shore and lives :oldlol:

both.... my dogs are 10x worth saving then some dip shits in our world.

I was driving on a hwy headed to another daily hunt , and a van passed me , and I looked to see who was driving and how many people or if it was a service van.
Service van driven by a tourist.
About an 1/8 of a mile ahead of me, the guy was swerving down the road , this is like 10 in the morning.
Next thing I see it exits right down an embankment and plunges into the Wisc. river.
Talk about freaking out. Pulled over , flagged a passer by , they had a cell phone , and called 911. (This is right when cell's were coming out)
I ran down the embankment and when I got to the river the van was 3/4 submerged. Out pops a guy.
I asked him if he can swim towards me , other wise I would go for a swim. He said he could do it. (No one was with him in the van)
(It was as close to saving someone, I was ever involved in. )
Cops came , fire dept. (I excused myself and went hunting)

I saved two of my dogs on thin ice/ highly dangerous / but I did it.
Dogs once in usually can not climb out , weight drags them back in. I broke ice one time ,
and quite frankly it is a very quick shock.
I landed about waist high and got out , and went directly home.... (ice fishing journey that ended quick)

Yes, and the last thing he will ever see is you turning the boat around.

Unless it was a little kid probably my dog. An adult can drown you too if you try to save them.

The picture in the OP shows a strong grown man. Do you understand how much grip and strength people can apply when panicking for their lives? Hed have your skinny dumbass at the bottom of the ocean with him. The real question is why would you get in a deep body of water if you can't swim. And what white guy doesn't know how to swim or stay afloat lmao

Very easy decision. I would save my dog 100% of the time while fully admit it's the wrong decision.

Why do you think it's the wrong decision? Because of the man's inability to swim, you are losing your best friend in the process.

Because I subscribe to the belief that human life is infinitely more valuable than animal life.

Its tough tbh... a dog is a living being just like a human, and if its YOUR dog, its YOUR family member, a living being that doesnt just become your best friend like so many like to say, they become more like a combination of your soul mate, companion, your brother and yes, your child... and still no human can love you as much as a dog can... they will steal your heart whether you like it or not, more so than any of your family members and hence leave the biggest hole you will ever have in your chest when they leave you....

I was a total mess when i had to put my GSD down... i have lost close relatives, friends and a father who died in front of me... and im telling you, losing a pet is the worst, it touches the deepest part of your soul, you try to hide it, you try to not say this to anybody.... i refused to get another pet after that... it almost makes it not worth it to have a pet....

The entire process is so *****ing brutal at the vet aswell, you have to hold your dog and look him deep in the eyes (and your dog to his last breath will fight to not lose eye contact with you) as you slowly in every detail see his life disappear... and you would so regret not being there & doing that! With humans you rarely do this, you would rather NOT do this, they usually pass away when you are not next to them, you dont "put them to sleep", DEATH doesnt hit you as closely.... as you sit there, destroyed, the vet basically goes: "so! what do you wanna do with his body? burn it with the rest of the animals, rats, snakes and what not?"

IT SUX

DONT GET A DOG.

I was a hard skeptic aswell.... was like "nah, i wont get this emotional when my dog passes, its just a freakin dog"... but, hahah, nah man... get a dog, any pet actually, live with it for ~10 years.... you will see, no matter how cold blooded you are, you will see what i mean, i can GUARANTEE you....

Its hard to explain, all i know is it hits you the most when they pass away.... that is when you start to dwell over everything, what that dog really meant for you.... you will go hide somewhere and CRY, like a bitch...

If you're on a boat, why not just get near enough to where he can get a grab of the boat without actually jumping in? I bet all boat have ropes or life jackets
or some shit. Dogs can swim so Fido is good...
