From Reddit (https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/ocavqw/deandre_ayton_has_held_opponents_to_375_shooting/)

Deandre Ayton has held opponents to 37.5% shooting these playoffs, the best out of any player with at least 125 FGA defended. Ayton leads all players with 267 FGA defended in the postseason. Source. (https://www.nba.com/stats/players/defense-dash-overall/?Season=2020-21&SeasonType=Playoffs&PerMode=Totals&CF=D_FGA*GE*125&sort=D_FG_PCT&dir=-1)

Along the same lines, Ayton has held opposing shooters to 11.6% below their FG% averages when guarded by him, which also leads all players this postseason (minimum 100 FGA defended).

On the offensive end these playoffs, Ayton has the best postseason true-shooting % (TS%) in NBA playoff history (minimum 160 FGA). Source. (https://stathead.com/tiny/d927S) The top five:

Deandre Ayton (2021): 70.5%

Kevin Durant (2017): 68.3%

Kawhi Leonard (2021): 67.9%

Kawhi Leonard (2017): 67.2%

Kevin McHale (1988): 67.0%

Significant two-way impact in these playoffs.

Pretty nutty for his first playoffs ever. He's really stepped it up when it matters most. Proud of him.

Way, way, way, way, way, way better than Gobert.

Second best player after Booker in the playoffs. Been really impressed with his defence and rebounding rather than his offence. Guy legitimately can defend guards, unlike a certain 200m player.

I haven't watched that much but he's been the best player in the playoffs from what I've seen.

Of course, nobody will say as much because people have a surface level thinking hard-on for scoring, particularly with guards. C'est la vie.

He's also been the least replaceable player for the Suns specifically. His offensive rebounding and defense have straight up won multiple games and kept them in multiple others which would have probably been blowouts had he not existed.

Even though he has a good post game, I still think he relies a bit offensively from the guards. But you're 100% right that he's the most irreplaceable player on the team and a strong case to be made that he's been the best player these playoffs for them.

CP3 and Ayton both been better than Book in the yoffs babyboi. Who just got clamped by Pat Bev for a series :yaohappy:

Its not like the 16 playoffs when Klay and Dray were both better than Steph.

As usual, you're delusional. Book was the best player vs the Lakers, played well vs the Nuggets and was inconsistent vs the battered Clippers which is still better than CP3 who was flat out garbage for 3/4 games until the final game. Went 2-0 with CP3 down, and Suns went 2-2 after the midget came back.

CP3 is in the discussion on how much better was he than Payne, the backup guard that's outplayed him in both the Lakers and Clippers series. Literally zero discussion on him being more valuable than either Book or Ayton.

My guy Balmer got a bit too horny right there, that shit was awkward and cringey af.

But then again Balmer getting way too horny and cringey on camera is nothing new, dude's been doing it since the 80's.

Ayton was their mvp against the Clippers for me. He is really having a breakout year. He defends the paint really well and surprising defended Reggie Jackson well at the perimeter too when he got switched on. He did better than Gobert at defending the perimeter shots.

It's nice to see the Suns having a great year.

He's been the best perimeter big I have seen in some time at the perimeter. Even MVP level bigs get destroyed out there vs the right guards like Embiid or Joker.

Bam Adebayo legit shut down Kyrie Irving before.
