Financially I’m doing very well. So that wouldn’t be an issue. I’m trying to consider which Country would give me similar lifestyle like here without all the bs that come with it. What would be the best options? Maybe it’ll be temporary who knows :lol

Look up Dubai
A lot of my rich friends have moved over there and seem to be raving about it

Definitely can’t afford to live there but even if I could I wouldn’t want to live there. It’s seems so fake and the brutal slave labor there is beyond awful.

That along with Canada are on my list. I’m in no rush and will be careful about this.

Anglosphere should be out of the question, they are a part of america in all but name. Maybe Ireland would be an option. If non english speaking nations are not a problem for you, I'd suggest Uruguay, nice climate, no crime, inexpensive, ethnically homogenous population. Then you have a bunch of European countries you can't go wrong with. Personally, I would short list the mediterranean, greece would be perfect tbh.

Out of interest, why? My Wife is Portuguese ( from the Azores to be exact but left there when she was like 3) and we've talked about me getting a Portuguese passport.

costa rica should be your bar none number 1 place of interest
but you're gonna have to do it VERY soon, secrets out about that place and the price of land has quadrupled in the last 5 years.

There are a lot of countries that simply won't let you emigrate there if you're an American citizen. You can visit, but there's a limit to how long you can stay there. My brother (American) and his bride-to-be (South African) had an extremely difficult time finding a country that they could both emigrate to and live in. They finally settled on the Netherlands, and that only worked because my brother was able to claim dual citizenship.

Why is this? I might also be interested in emigrating at some point.

Same reason why you can't just move to the U.S. and become a citizen..

Lmao
the refugees have more rights than the citizens here.
Every country varies in difficulty, you specifically pointed out your brother because they were American as opposed to anything else and had extra difficulty.

If you want an easy way to emigrate just say you are a refugee

I read a while back that the Azores is an attractive retirement destination for American retirees with a good income. Mild climate, low crime. After you are there long enough you get the Euro free healthcare too.

Yeah my wife a few times has mentioned moving to Azores but I'm of the impression its not a lot of work there. I'm actually hoping we can retire in 5 years, I got into real estate young at the bottom of my local market, I'm hoping to cash out and retire somewhere cheap( ish). I've qualified for a Portuguese passport for the last 5 years but just haven't bothered to get it yet( I have an EU/UK passport but with Brexit and all :facepalm).

What are you looking for exactly? What type of scenery lifestyle, type people around, are you ok with everyone not speaking English, etc?
Best place to retire if you have decent money or make good money WFH to work anywhere is Switzerland presuming you can figure out the language barrier. Beautiful country with crazy scenery, plenty of things to do and with a car you're a few hours away from Italy, Austria, France, and Germany.
