NBA players play 1-on-1 with a limited number of dribbles usually, so it becomes "who is the better shooter off the dribble" when it's between similarly sized guys. That's what Beasley does. Tunnel vision, head in the clouds, but he's a 6'9" lefty with a rachet.

The problem for Beasley was that he played no defense and could not pass the ball. He had an absolutely miniscule assist rate for his career. You can only get going so much as a scorer without being able to playmake for others, because teams will just focus more defense on you and take the ball out of your hands. Beasley's bad court vision cost him a legendary career.
None of that matters for 1-on-1, 2 dribbles.

And people actually believe this:roll:
How come Beasley couldn't replicate this dominance when it came to actual NBA games then?
heat practice refs were in silver's pocket no doubt.
just a continuation of the diabolical rigging top-to-bottom against lbj since the aau days.
crazy he still got 4 finals MVPs.

I was legitimately just watching Brian Scalabrine talking on a YouTube video, talking about what it takes to even start to be successful at the NBA level. And what he talks about highlights some of the reason Beasley wasn't as successful as people thought he was going to be. He just didn't have the brain for it, the guy could flat out score, and would KILL a very large percentage of NBA players in a 1-on-1. Obviously, including LeBron, but why would any actual basketball fan be surprised by that? This is more like a "Duh" situation, of course he did? Beasley was not a "success" because there was clearly too much going on for him at an NBA level, clearly it was just too fast, too strong, and too complicated for him, because he was historic in college.
edit: Another thing, this was when the whole "Tweener" position first kinda started... It's where you're a large human being, but you aren't strong enough to play PF, and you aren't fast enough to play SF, which also led to his downfall. See: Derrick Williams, and I think Wesley Johnson was one too? Beasley would probably be a lot more successful today, being drafted in the next draft, than in 2008.

If someone told me that 30 teammates of Lebron have beat Lebron 1v1, I wouldn't be surprised. That's not his strong suit. Just not creative enough, offensively

I could see that. Beasley was long & strong enough to not get bullied by Lebron.

Thats not hard to believe. At one point beasley was bettwr than durant coming out of high school. Dude had all around game offensively, could post u up and hit threes and was strong enough to bang against 4s and some 5s. Hell beasley might be the most offensively gifted player to play in the NBA. He could also jump out of the gym. His downfall was a shitty work ethic, didnt take the game seriously, zero basketball IQ,didnt work on defense or rebounding, wasnt coachable and he had a thing for weed. Beasley should be a hall of famer…..the bulls were so close to taking him number 1 over drose…..let that sink in.

There are guys that could never sniff an NBA roster that could win the dunk contest. One on one basketball isn't quite as irrelevant as trick dunking but it's certainly not enough to make a guy a great team basketball player.

Yup, wouldn’t be surprised if Waiters or Wade also beat him 1on1. LeBron’s crab dribble only works 5 on 5

NBA players aren't usually playing 1-on-1 without some rule about how many dribbles you can take. You can't really post somebody up and big boy them if you are only allowed two or three dribbles. I wouldn't be surprised if Waiters was beating LeBron under those conditions.

True, I've seen them play that 2 dribble rules.
Someone like Kobe would win like 99/100 against almost anyone with those rules. MJ, Durant.

Kobe could beat guys left handed.
"'Look at Kobe Bryant,'" Morrison added. "'He shows up here every day and he works. Kobe Bryant hasn't put the basketball in his right hand since he's been in camp. He's here to only work on his left hand.'"

I'm guessing they score it 2 pts minus amount of dribble.

100%
But those guys also have great 5v5 floor games. There are some folks who would be absolute scrubs in 5v5 at the NBA level who would kill stars 1v1. Being able to shoot contested J's is the key skill, but most NBA guys avoid shooting those shots in games.
I bet Jordan Crawford is absolutely nasty 1v1...but that's all he can do.

Beasley was simply a better 1 on 1 player than Lebron, it wouldn't matter if they played 2 or 3 dribbles, 21, king of the court. doesn't matter, Beasley had a bigger bag when it came to scoring in a half court set. 5 on 5 basketball is a completely different game, Beasley never had the court vision, IQ, and passing ability to be on Lebron's level in a 5 on 5 situation.
