How can they not put the legendary gold NBA Finals in cursive on the court???? Yet alone the logo is no where to be seen?? What is the POS nba trying to do, biggest watered down league in sports.

At least it's not the overrated jumpman logo. Now many would whine if that starts taking on its place too.

For real, they used to be dope, and the league had them in the Finals for decades. They even used to have a huge Larry O'Brien trophy at mid court in the 2000's.

Then for whatever reason, after 2014, which is when Silver took over, they stopped including them altogether.

It's not just the court, they used to have Finals patches on the jerseys as well, but they stopped including them in 2015 also. I just don't understand what the point or benefit of stopping it was, I thought it was a cool custom that really added to the championship atmosphere. And they're the only league to discontinue it, they still do this for the Super Bowl, World Series & Stanley Cup Finals

They could even superimpose it with the cameras they have like they do with the ads on the court.

Don't they have a Finals patch on the back of the jersey above the name? I believe they started doing that in 2010. I remember Pierce, KG, Kobe, etc having them on their jerseys back then.

You'd have to pay his heirs for the rights to use his likeness. That would cost the NBA tens of millions of dollars per season, maybe even more. Every NBA broadcast, every pre and postgame show uses the logo multiple times. Every piece of NBA gear that a fan buys has a hang tag with the NBA logo.

The NBA is going to hang on to the current logo because it's free. Everyone knows that it's Jerry West, but the league has never officially acknowledged that fact. That means that there are no royalties to be paid, no thorny issues of negotiating a new contract every few years, and more importantly.... more profits for the owners.
