A team that made the final either had Lebron or had to go through Lebron with the exception of 2019. Which means of 13 of the 14 years you had to beat Lebron at some point in to playoffs or play him in the finals.

That's truly incredible. It's a testiment to if you want to win it all you had to face the best at some point.

It was only 2-2 with phx this year until AD went out. Then it turned into 2 games of 30-40 pt losses for lebron.

This is pretty typical of all the great players of their era.

A team that made the Finals either had Magic or had to go through him from 1980-1991 (excluding 1990)
A team that made the Finals either had Jordan or had to go through him from 1986-1998 (excluding 1998)
A team that made the Finals either had Kobe or had to go through him from 1998-2013 (excluding 2005-07)

This isn't unique to Lebron or anything.

You can add Bird to the list as well from 1980-1989 (excluding 1983)

Didn't say it was exclusive to Lebron. But at the same time it is impressive. As it is suggested in the list provided. (Add Russell to the list). But at the same time we're looking at 13 of the last 14 years.

I didn't realise that the years went 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008. Man, are those years between 2004-2008, was the NBA not playing?

The champ went through Jordan from 88-98' except 94'

And what happened to Lebron in 2008? Only 45 wins, while scoring 26 on 35% in the 2nd Round to choke in 7 games.

So Mo didn't join a good team in 2009 - he infact MADE them good (21 more wins), which is why he was an all-star despite less ppg and apg than before joining Lebron.

If Lebron had bums in 2009 despite the #3 defense and an all-star teammate, then Jordan had bums in 1990 with the #19 defense and a less productive teammate across the board (BPM, VORP, PER, WS/48)..

And that was common knowledge back then - the 85-90' Bulls were considered the biggest 1-man team in history.. That was Jordan's claim to fame - this perception didn't change when they started winning from 91-93'.. Jordan increased his scoring to 36/7/8 in the 91-93' Finals to win, while his nearest sidekick was 16 ppg behind with less assists.. Jordan averaged 34/7/7 in the 91-93' Playoffs overall.

What's even more remarkable is that this is the first year since 1984 that one of Shaq's teammates isn't in the finals.
