View Full Version : In 10 Finals LBJ's only highlight is a block that JR Smith created.

I watched the Spike Lee "joint" before Game 2. Then I started thinking about why Lebron's "bicycle built for two" block is the only highlight you ever see.
First of all, obviously that play never happens without JR Smith undercutting Iggy and causing him to double clutch. The highlights of LeSPN never show you the beginning or side angle of the play.
But regardless...

Now think back to Jordan's 6. Off the top of my head:
91 - "A spectacular play!" and the game tying shot to force OT in game 2 in LA.
92 - Shrug game / most 3 pt shots in a half / 35 pt half
93 - 56 pt game, 22 pt quarter, 41 PPG.
96 - Up 3-0 after 72-10 winning season, GOAT team.
97 - Game 1 game winner
98 - No Scottie, the steal and the series winning shot, 6/6/6.

How can someone have played in 10 finals series and only have 1/2 of a highlight, and it's a block that JR created? This is the story of Lebron's career. Ray Allen, Kyrie, etc. Plus 0-8 in game tying / game winning shots?

Color me unimpressed. Seriously.

I guess that's what happens when you play in a weak Conference with your colluded teams, and then FINALLY reach a real opponent once you face the West in the Finals.
You lose more often than not.

Hence no AD...no success out West, as well

As a previous poster mentioned, no. That put them up 4 and they won by 7. I realize it's rare for Lebron to hit a jumper or 2 consecutive free-throws in the last 20 seconds of a game. But still, 0 for 8 in finals game winners / tying shots.
*Edit* He shot the ball with 29 seconds left on the clock, already +2 to put them +4. Heat won by 7. Some "game winner".

You got me mixed up with someone else. I never said anything about a layup.

You can have an iconic moment that doesn't decide the game. On the flip side, have a huge shot that isn't iconic.

Like the MJ shrug is iconic because he had 35 points in the 1st half of game 1 of the 1992 finals and talk leading up to the finals was that MJ can't shoot better than Drexler and he drained 6 3s. It was organic and in the moment.

Same with the layup against the Lakers. Not a game decider but organic and memorable.

2 blocks in 10 finals series. 1 was caused by another player undercutting Iggy. Is that it? Asking for iconic moments of the finals; you provide 1.5 blocks in 10 series. The '13 series where he blocked Splitter was bailed out by Allen; 2016 bailed out by Silver+Kyrie. Show me something memorable on the court. No, the lone win against the 2009 Magic was ECF or ECSF.

:52 seconds left. In Lebron math world, 28 seconds up 2, hit a shot to make it 4 = game winner. 52 seconds is now a full minute; nevermind the fact no one had scored in 4 minutes from either team. That 3 was like a 10 point shot. You know it and I know it.

Well it's nighty-night time. I see we only have 1/2 block and another block on a white dude as LBJ's crowning achievements in 10 finals trips. I'll be back tomorrow.
Surprised no one has trotted out him getting carried off in the 2014 series when the air conditioner beat him (even thought every other player on the court was fine; even 57 year old Duncan).

LeBron scored the 7 points previous to tie the game before that shot. He either scored or assisted on every basket in that quarter bar two. Was FMVP. Stop it.

True, I'd list the opponents that swept Shaq out of the playoffs but there'd be too many to list

Shaq is certainly higher on an all-time list than Lebron. 3x back to back to back rings and finals MVPs. There is no year Letard had that even sniff's Shaq's 2000 season.

Yep, less MVP's, less FMVP's, less All-NBA teams, less All-Defensive Teams, worse playoff averages both prime and career, worse longevity; yep, def checks out Shaq is ranked higher :lol

LeBron is the most insufferable guy the NBA's ever had. I can't wait until he's finally out of the league.

He's everything that's wrong with the NBA. Teammates bail him out, he takes the credit. Calls himself the best ever. Makes a 1 hour special announcing what team he's going to. Walks off in a playoff game with 5 min remaining due to his losing. I tell my kids NOT to be like Lebron. I don't blame him; he had obviously no male role model in his life and has been treated like a prince since age 15. All he has left is longevity stats; we'll have to watch baldo pump-fake and crab dribble 2-3 more years. After all, his entire game is based on size, speed and athleticism - not skill. I don't like Chris Paul but he's about 500x more "skilled" than Lebron will ever be. Hell Kyle Lowry is to be honest. Lebron is an athletic passer. Poor mid-range, awful free throw, below average 3 pt shooter. Colluder.

Seriously.

Good point OP, didn't that block occur at the 5:00 minute of the 4th quarter as well? Hardly iconic.

There was a point last night where ESPN showed a stat that in the last 25 years the highest scoring quarters ever was 19 by LeBron and Kobe which Giannis topped with 20 last night. ESPN wants so badly to prop up LeBron that they have to omit from telling the audience that Jordan scored 22 points in game 4 of the 1993 Finals just 28 years ago. F--- ESPN and their agenda.

I noticed that too. Same for showing Lebron's "block from two people" lone highlight of his double digit finals. Yep, it's crazy how spoonfed a handful of people still are about this media created "great".
