Up until the 2000s, Brazil was THE dominant force in soccer with multiple victories and stars like Pele, Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and many others.

Brazil is the most winning soccer side ever with 5 world cups.

Brazil used to be loved because they played a fun, offensive game, and won just on sheer talent.

Then in the 00s the rest of the world got their shit together and figured out how to approach soccer scientifically.

They focused on defense and teamwork, boring at times, but effective.

Yet even more important, they began taking youth development seriously, and teaching dicipline, fundamentals and tactical understanding from a young age. This was done in football academies that belonged to the great clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Then Brazil began to lose - a lot.

Suddenly Brazil were no longer special. Their natural talent advantage was not enough to make up for the higher IQ soccer that the Europeans were playing.

It's now been 20 years since Brazil won a world cup last time.

Not a bad comparison actually. I like it. With how soft the NBA rules have become, I'm not surprised the US look out of sorts internationally. Talent is catching up world-wide though. We see it with Luka and Joker.

The NBA used to have these superstars that combined elite skill with elite athleticism, but the average NBA player, like the average brazilian, just isn't that great anymore.

Great comparison let's just hope the trend doesn't continue in our case.

Nice analogy. When the USA finally allowed pros to play in the late 80s or 1992 or whatever it was a foregone conclusion because team work and talent were at all time highs. We had Magic, Larry, and MJ.

Then in 2004, we saw a heavily favored American team lose... Ghetto ball can lose to ball movement offenses despite a talent disparity.

3BALL shouldn't be mad at 3s. USA struggled vs Nigeria because of lack of BALL movement. Remember the old spurs blew the doors off prime Wade and lebron because they swung the ball and hit shots. That's basketball.

The problem is that the NBA is actually trending towards breaking away from basketball and becoming a new sport.

It's beginning to look like rugby union vs rugby league, which are two different rulesets for rugby, but still fundamentally the same sport.

In rugby, those who play Union win in Union competitions and those who win in League win in League competitions, there is no overlap, because the variants have become too different.

Playing 1 vs 5 just isn't as effective as playing 5 vs 5.

Brazil also just didn't birth the same talents, though.

Thats been mainly it.

Ghetto Ball is just another term used to critize a certain type of althete by people who never had the skill or talent to play the game themsleves.

That's hard to believe, like they're a huge country and soccer is a religion there.

It's possible that economic growth has something to do with it though.

Like how no one wants to be a boxer anymore in the US.

Middle class people don't let their kids run around outside playing sports all day long.

Did Brazil just suddenly stop sending their best? Because this consistently happens with team USA.

Then eventually we send all of or most our best and mop the floor with everyone.

You think a team USA composed of...

Klay Thompson
Devin Booker
Zion Williamson
James Harden
Stephen Curry
Kevin Durant
Anthony Davis
LeBron James
Kawhi Leonard
Paul George
Chris Paul
Damian Lillard
Kyrie Irving

etc...

is losing any games?

**** out of here with this shit.

It isnt.

Neymar is the only ATG talent they have.

The rest is good players from great clubs or even middling clubs, which many countries have many of.

Haha, Brazil isn‘t that dominant that they just got bored and stopped sending their best.

With no Olympics in football, the WC is the only time a nation can prove itself (from SA anyway). And that‘s only once every 4 years.

Besides, Brazil won 5 WC‘s and 3 of them 60-72, it‘s not like they win it every time or even 25% of the time. Its not close to the US monopoly where they can send the bench lineup and dominate.

Brazil's soccer team was not even close to being as dominant as US Basketball team.

Like, very far away.

Idiotic comparison. Brazil went without a WC win from 1970 to 1994 before winning again in 2002. In between they fielded some really average teams but even when they had one of the most talented ever in 1982, they still failed because football is like that. The best team doesn't always get to win. Truth is that the gap in talent between Brazil and the rest of the world in football was never as wide as the one US had and still has in basketball now. And Brazil have been scientific and pragmatic with their approach for more than 2 decades.

Like in NBA itself, no football team can stay on top forever. Even a powerhouse like Brazil can't produce top class talent all the time and even if they did, nothing would be guaranteed because football is an inherently much more open game.

US basketball team is a lot more similar to Soviet hockey team or Usain Bolt's running career.

Brazilian soccer? Some people really don't have perspective and are easily duped by stories. The Brazilians may be fanatical but they never dominated football the way the US dominated basketball.

That 2014 Spurs offense was the most entertaining I've ever watched.

^first thing I did when I got league pass was rewatch the 2014 finals. Absolute beauty. I made my NBA2k MyCareer character based off Boris Diaw lol. None of these kids know what to do with him.

Do you play against people online with MyCareer?

I finished the first season and kinda bored with the second, where do I go from there?
