View Full Version : 30.0 PER rating through the Finals: 2021 Countdown. Who else can do a LeSpectacular?
TheCorporation

With LeBron having more 30.0 PER runs through the Finals than all NBA players combined, we shall now call this feat "LeSpectacular" LeBron has had 6 such occurrences of ending the playoffs with a 30.0 PER rating through the Finals. The only other players in league history that have ever achieved this is MJ (2x) and Shaq (1x). Here are the closest players remaining that can achieve a LeSpectacular in 2021:
Giannis: 25.5
Paul: 22.0
Booker: 16.4
Middleton: 16.4
Will any players have a chance at achieving a "LeSpectacular" (30.0 PER run through the Finals)? Will anyone else get more than two? LeBron is the only player to ever do this with six of them.

Slick continuing to trigger these suckers
And all that I ask is which other players could ever have a chance at pure excellence. It's all I was wondering about and these guys are melting. Imagine combining the entire league's history against Lebron and he still has double the amount of all other players in the last 75 years.

What a time boisshould email this to Shannon Sharpe for the next time Skip brings up how much he loves PER.
Edit: I’m surprised KAJ or Wilt never did this.

Damn. Jordan actually had the highest PER on a championship team. :applause: Even in a pro LeBron thread, this guy never stops winning.

Lot of Wilt's blocks and steals weren't recorded. Ditto with Kareem. PER takes your total box into account, so not that surprising.

Well he's at 25.5 and LeBron's best was 32.2, so no. But a better run than Kobe? Easily.

Kobe's highest is 26.8 so even by a garbage metric like that he's behind although it's probably going to be around 27 by tomorrow
But objectively speaking he's on pace for a way better PS run than LeBron has ever had, beat a superteam without one of his own (granted, one that was almost as unhealthy as the 2016 Warriors which wasn't a superteam) and hasn't even been statpadding like LeBron often does :oldlol: way better on defense too

Yawn
Well Giannis is at 25.5 and will prob hit 27.0 or so after tonight. LeBron's best was only 32.2 (NBA record) so no.

this is a perfect example why analytics lie. 2014 and 2018 were bad finals for lebron.. 2012 is by far his most impressive one.
he basically quit and stat padded in the series he's had his best numbers. when you get blown out in historic fashion the defense loosens up.
lebron is the dak Prescott of the nba basically

Giannis got a big bump to 26.4 or thereabouts but it wont be easy to get to 30.0 unless he has monster after monster game.

Follow up, Giannis is now at 26.8 so he got a little bit closer to achieving a LeSpectacular (30.0 Finals run PER).

Only matters if you do it for the franchise that drafted you and you stay with that franchise winning before going elsewhere.
quick reminder:
2011 finals legoat: 17.8 on 54% ts, 4 to/g
2011 finals terry: 18 on 61% ts, 1.3 to/g

He also left his originally drafted team to join with the 2nd and 4th highest PER in the league. (They were all in the same conference as well.) Only to end up losing in the NBA Finals while being outscored by Jason Terry despite logging many more minutes.

To put this into perspective that would be like if Michael Jordan left the bulls and joined with Hakeem Olajuwon and Charles Barkley....Only to lose in the Finals while being outscored by John Starks.

Yet he has four finals mvp, only second to michael jordan. Meanwhile, stephen curry has zero despite making the finals five times in a row.

91 Jordan won MVP, FMVP, led the league in PER in the regular season, and post season, and won the ring.
18 Lebron achieved literally none of that except for the post season PER lead.
