In the 3 games Hakeem defended Kareem in 1985-86 regular season, Kareem averaged 41 ppg on 67.5% fg against the Rockets. This was at age 39.

That's funny. Kareem didn't average nearly that much when defended by Sam Bowie.

But hakeem still has the 1994 finals mvp that was a bigger carry job then any Kareem finals mvp. 1971 Oscar was still an all nba 2nd team player and was similar level to what Chris Paul is now.

Also I would put hakeem 1995 title run over Kareem 1980 because hakeem stayed healthy and won finals MVP.

Hakeem never had goat level players like magic on his team either.

I remember when people would debate whether Kareem or Jordan was the GOAT. People would say Jordan had the best NBA career but Kareem had the best basketball career because of his domination in college and HS. Now people insult Kareem by mentioning LeBron as the 2nd best player. Recency bias it's a hell of a thing. Give it 5 years and no one will be compared to Kareem or Jordan any longer.

Yeah. I consider Kareem the greatest basketball player ever. I think I remember the poster, Psileas, saying that Kareem is the only basketball player who has a case for being the GOAT high school, college, and NBA player.

This shit is all circumstantial.

If you take 38 and 39 year old Kareem vs Hakeem and Sampson...

In a not small sample of 15 games across the 84-85 regular season, 85-86 regular season and 86 playoffs, Kareem put up 30.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 3.7 apg on 58.4 %FG/61.6 %TS with 3.5 topg. Those guys clearly had no answer for Kareem who could score at will on blistering efficiency.

It sounds crazy, that a guy who played in the NBA in 1971 played against a guy who played in the NBA in 1994
