Let's look at some of the game seven performances that West put up in the finals.

Game 7 62': 35/6/0 47%
Game 7 66': 36/10/3 44%
Game 7 69': 42/13/12 48%
Game 7 70': 28/6/5 47%

West was a total monster in those game sevens outside of 1970 and yet he still managed to lose every single one of those game sevens in heartbreaking fashion.

1962 was an OT loss

1966 was a two-point loss

1969 was a two-point loss

1970 was a 14 point loss

I don't think most people realise how freaking close West was from seriously finishing his career with 5 to 6 rings for his career instead of the one ring that he ended up with.

So pondering that has made me wonder where you guys would rank him all time nowadays had he won those four game sevens he lost in the finals which would have ensured he finished his career with 5 rings and a 5 and 4 record in the finals.

It should be noted that West lead his teams in the Finals in scoring 5x

65, 66, 68, 69, 70

And in assists 7X

63 66 68 69 70 72 73

He also has the record for the most 40 point games in finals history with ten.

And he also has the record for the most 30 point games in finals history with 31.

How many steals does West have in his career if they counted them? In his final season, at the age of 35, he played in 31 games and averaged 31 minutes. He averaged 2.6 steals that season. What's West doing between the ages of 22-32 averaging 40 minutes a game? 3.0-3.5 steals?

I think he has over 3500 steals if they had counted steals for his entire career.

As I know for a fact that he had a season in his prime in which he averaged over 5 steals a game.

Does it matter how many rings he has? Theres so many things that determine wether one wins a championship or not (teammates, opponents, the coaches strategies, lots of luck, etc) that it seems to me to not be very important how many rings one wins for the question of how good/skilled an individual player is. One can be the best player put on a bad or just unfitting team, with a bad coach, etc. Not sure If this is making much sense, im actually not really into team sports haha.

If you are not really into team sports then what are some sports that you do personally like?
