View Full Version : Giannis got his first ring at a younger age the Jordan did

Jordan was 28.
LeBron was 27
Giannis was 26

Both Giannis and LeBron did things the right way since they won championships at a younger age than Jordan and dominated the NBA at a younger age.

So Giannis not only did it the right way, he also did it at a younger age.

When will Giannis surpass Jordan at this rate?

Jordan entered the league at a later age. Do you mean if MJ came in say 2 years earlier (19 years old) that would make it 26 for him to get his first ring?

Same with Giannis then. Without having to move to superteams, at 26 years old. Thanks.

Probably, probably not...he's already surpassed LeShortcut by winning it the right way so he's off to a great start.

Jordan wasn't good enough to get drafted at 19 like Giannis.

That is a knock on Jordan.

There is no coulda or woulda. Gianni was playing against grown NBA men while Jordan was asking for lunch money.

At 26 and even before the ring this year, Giannis has already shown he has a better head on his shoulders than Lebron did at a later age. Better composure for Giannis while an older Lebron is dishing out "not 7" quotes.

Gianni already has a better trajectory than Jordan.

At 26, Giannis comes up with "When this team is humble this team is very dangerous". Team concept for Giannis. Love for Milwaukee and his teammates.

At 27, Lebron leaves CLE, does childish theatrics on stage and the infamous "not 7" quote that he did not even fulfill FFS. Lol.

As a fan of basketball, I'm excited to see how Giannis' career pans out. Be the GOAT. I wont have a problem with that. I know he has a much better character than Lebron. He's no faker.

Just 4-5 more rings and 3 more MVPs to catch up to Jordan and Kareem. Tough job but it's possible he may equal Lebron when it's all said and done

- Jordan got drafted late!!
- Giannis did it the right way!
- Lebron colusion!

Lol, funny how goal posts shift when an outside player fiddles with the numbers

Lebron wouldn't have gotten his first ring till he was like 33 if he didn't collude with Wade and Bosh

He had a different set of circumstances. Not taking anything away from him but he is not part of the comparison.

These 3 players here were in comparable situations. Another person I would add here is KD. Didnt get his first ring until his 10th season, after colluding with GSW. He was 28.

So two paths here:

1. Lebron and KD leaving their teams after 7-8 years to collude. Thereafter they get their first rings.

2. MJ and Giannis stay and help develop the team organically. At almost the same time that KD/Lebron left their teams, MJ/Giannis stayed and won shortly after.

But good enough to get drafted in the NBA and start making millions right away?

People simply went to college back then. Since about 1996 all the youngest players have been 18-19 years old. But Im sure 8troll thinks 18 year old Maciej Lampe was better than jordan 1 or 2 years removed from 28 ppg in the NBA.

LeBron signed 2 contracts in his first 7yrs. He designed it so after those 7yrs, he'd be eligible for the Max.

MJ's 2nd contract (summer of 88') was 8yrs for 25 million. Huge for it's time. We both know Chicago wouldn't have traded him and he wouldn't have been eligible for free agency until after finishing his 7th season which would have been until the summer of 91'. But considering his deal wasn't up until the summer of 96'

Too sum it up, he couldn't leave Chicago if he wanted to. Even if demanded to be traded instead of signing the extension, the Bulls wouldn't have caved.

MJ had no choice but to stay in Chicago.

Giannis actually did get an organic ring before Jordan... so technically, he's on pace to surpass Jordan.. he should work on his turnaround all summer.. if he became a killer from paint/mid-range, he could win every year.

Only Lebron needed a super-team to win... How many rings before Lebron formed a super-team, or how many rings if Lebron never formed super-team with Wade/Bosh?

Obviously none, otherwise he wouldn't have done it

This is stupid for any number of reasons; first being Mike played 3 years of college (and won a NCAA ring). LeGED came in right out of high school.
Using this logic, Darko was the GOAT then right? Won a chip @ 18 with the Pistons in '04.

Lastly, Ledumb won in his 9th year; Mike his 7th. Also at age 35 Mike had 6 rings, 6 FMVP, 10 scoring titles, etc. Lebron at age 36 only has 4*. So I guess just more accomplished then?
