View Full Version : Whose ring was more "organic"? Curry 2015 or Giannis 2021

Curry 2015 or Giannis 2021?

Both won chips as the main guy on the team that drafted them. Both got injury breaks to their direct, toughest opponents along with way (Kyrie/Love injured in 2015 and Kyrie/Harden injured in 2021). Both didn't have a superstar teammate. Not interested in "which player is better"...simply which ring was more organic for the 2015 Warriors and 2021 Bucks.

Discuss.

Curry with Klay and Draymond were all drafted to the Warriors and delvoped into all-star/allnba quality players. Freak next 2 players Middleton and Jrue were traded to the team. Curry wins this hands down.

Both are organic. I would say the warriors were more organic. Both teams didn't add any huge star pieces when they won.

What about Iguodala?

Iggy was a big piece added the year before they won but I wouldn't consider him a star. Jrue to me was a bigger added piece.

Warriors but they got lucky in the draft

Middleton got to the team the same year Giannis did. It was his 2nd year and he was a nobody. He played only 27 games for Detroit as a rookie and spent a lot of time in the G League.

Bucks only won 15 games in 2014, the first year with the Bucks for Giannis and Middleton.

Yeah, just check their finals' performances.

Both rings generally fit the definition of organic, and both stars needed some luck with injuries.

Both teams also had key free agents join them (Iggy one year before in 2014 and Holiday in 2021).

It will be interesting to see if Giannis elevates his game even more like Curry did in 2016. Getting that money off your back with the first ring really elevates confidence in players.

Probably curry. Don't think they added another major piece like bucks did with holiday this year

They added Iggy one year before in 2014 which is notable considering how Iggy played in the 2015 finals...but teams literally add key free agents all the time. It begs the question, are Curry's 2017/2018 rings still organic or does having a superstar join in free agency like Durant (creating a superteam in the process) ruin the "organicness" of those rings.

Of course it wasn't like Warriors were world beaters when he drafted to them. Middleton was thrown in after Brandon Jennings trade. As for thread topic Warriors win this.

What really pisses me off to no end is that the splash brothers should have been Wizards.

The Warriors got the pick to draft Curry in a trade with the Wizards. They traded Mike Miller and Randy Foye, both on expiring contracts. They left when their contracts were up. And Curry WANTED to come to DC.

:facepalm

Then with the 6th pick in the 2011 draft the Wizards picked Jan Vesely who was out of the league in 3 years. Klay was drafted at 11.

The warriors got nowhere in the conference finals until they got steve kerr to coach the team. One impressive feat they did is that they won 67 games, top of the league, and ended up winning the title. But too bad the welfarefan prediction of seeing stephen curry garner his first finals mvp didn't happen back then, which only continued until 2019.

Hey three eggs, you should go blame the welfarefan. Since he jinxed stephen curry into not winning the finals mvp at all six years ago.

That has more to do with Curry signing with Under Armour.

True forgot about iggy. I don't really care that much about whether rings are organic or not but as far as the question goes its tough to say. Adding a piece like kd can effect the organic workings of a team more than adding an iggy or holiday. They both only added one guy but the 17 warriors seem alot less organic than the 16 warriors do. I don't know man it's to complicated to determine what is and what isn't that's why i don't really get into it.

Dunno about that. Kawhi broke up with Nike in 2018 but he still got Fmvp.

Obvious big curry fan but they're both asterisks. Both needed a record amount of injuries to seal the deal.

Asterisk is a different argument. It's interesting that they are both "organic" rings, but also could be asterisks due to massive injuries to their opponents.

Curry had less help, so Curry.

and both teams won legit chips because colluded super-teams should be kicked out of the league anyway - it should be illegal to team up with the best players and then win a chip, and then call yourself the best - it's complete bullshit.. I'd like to say that I'm surprised people fall for it, but I'm not.. People are dumb as shit

Weird, you were CONSISTENTLY arguing that Curry's 2015 ring wasn't organic due to injuries to Kyrie and Love, and the Giannis' ring was superior.

Guess you had to change your story when I bullied your weak ass in that thread.

I came to my senses - colluded super-teams should be kicked out of the league - it should be illegal to team up with the best players and then win a chip, and then call yourself the best - it's complete bullshit... so it was karma that those super-teams in 15' and 21 got hurt, so the real teams could win... Giannis winning opened my eyes more and moved Curry up my rankings a bit

Dunno about that. Kawhi broke up with Nike in 2018 but he still got Fmvp.

New Balance isn't a threat and who else were they going to give it to? Lowry? Siakam? They don't seem to be affiliated with Nike either. Notice also that relative to his stature Kawhi doesn't exactly get a lot of love himself from the media.

If they wanted to give it to say, lowry, they couldve easily come up with some narrative. Like "lowry is the real team leader" or whatever. I can see your point though

Neither. They both acquired players via free agency and trades. That's not organic.

There are levels to this. You know all-natural vs. hybrid vs. GMO vs. fully synthetic.
