View Full Version : Baron Davis with the most people ever personally defeated on one play?

Sure you can dunk on a whole group or drive on a packed paint….but how often do 3 consecutive defenders lose in straight up individual failures?
https://thumbs.gfycat.com/ZealousEagerBarasingha-size_restricted.gif
Guys beat double teams then dunk on a third guy but that play just worked out nicely far as a “Next man up” style back to back to back failure.
In related news and to allow me to segue(<—-word you never have to type or read) to my desired point….
Baron used to date Laura Dern….the female lead from Jurassic Park. It feels like she would have been too old to date Baron Davis but it turns out she was like 24 when filming Jurassic Park. She looked like a really in shape 40 year old. She was only 12 years older than the little girl in that movie.
Im gonna go ahead and name Laura Dern the Deandre Ayton of the 90s.
That is all.

Baron Davis was one of my favorite players... watching his dunk on AK47 will go down in history as one of the best in-game.

Indeed it was. Situationally at least. You watch it back he didn’t even jump that high he just came at him so aggressive with the Steve Francis style sideways dunk to protect the ball….it looked crazy really. Almost like one of those brutal Barkley dunks where he’s baaaaaarely high enough even though he seemed to destroy the earth. Larry Johnson had some of those too. Classic 22 inch leap posters.

Ha! Why do I feel like this is what you really wanted to talk about? I wouldn't go as far as 40, but in her 30s. I didn't realize she was 24 in JP1. Younger than Sam Neil.
I'm just shocked that they were a thing.

20 years younger.
And of course it’s what I really wanted to talk about. I’ll always find a way to relate my nonsense to basketball if I want it bad enough.

Nothing like some real footage of him beating three men. He was sick as f*k. Just like Eddie Jones and Steve Francis, Baron Davis was way better than his stats indicated.

I've not seen a more skilled Discontinue Dribble (Carrying) Violation than the second play.
so then he wouldn't get past the initial defenders, not with any significant acceleration, leastways

They started tracking "assist quality" near the end of Baron Davis' career, and he was consistently near the top of the league. He's a guy that you actually had to witness to understand.

Not nearly as pretty but I feel like he could outrun an entire team in his prime.

Tmac, 3:26 in goes to at least 4 guys.
This was also when 46 point triple doubles were not normal at all.

Talented guy but seemed like an underachiever. As talented as he was seems like he should have made more than 2 All Star games.
I suspect he didn't work as hard on his game or his conditioning relative to other players. Fairly injury prone.

Really, when Baron left GSW and Monta ellis took over, i noticed no difference. Both were like that IMO, just very good scorers but that's it. Baron better dunker, Monta better shooter.
My best memories was with Baron wearing that hideous greenish tinge jerseys in Charlotte

I mean his dad was in the military, maybe they belted his little kid with experimental super soldier serum and gamma rays that created the Incredible Hulk?
:oldlol:
Because that’s what he was, the NBA basketball version of the Incredible Hulk.
Seriously, and if you’re being honest, Shaquille O’Neal even admitted he wasn’t really staying in shape after he finally got that MVP and first championship in the 2000 season.
This is cheeseburger guzzling Snack Shaq. It only got worse with each subsequent season. Imagine if he was actually motivated to win and achieve like a Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant? Or Hell, even to take care of his body like LeBron James?
Also amazing? The dude physique that he’s hammering it on. I forget his name. But built like a brick shit house

For real. :oldlol: Freak strength and mass, like a walking tank. Motivated Shaq would have been the GOAT. Kobe said as much a few years back. If the big fella was into taking care of his body, he would have had both the best peak and prime. Hands down. You couldn't do anything with Shaq except hope he missed freethrows. And in the clutch, he made those mother****ers. 2000 and 2001 playoff Shaq was a great physique for him. But if he stayed at 96 Orlando level, he would be MEAN. Lower body fat, higher testosterone. Good luck with that.
The Albino? That's Aaron Williams.

That was his step dad. His biological dad was a hustler from Newark that bounced on raising him. One of the worst cities in the USA. That must've been a scary fella lurking those streets.

I 100% didn’t know that. Thanks. But you can tell the masculine energy and militaristic parenting that he received, benefited him. Basically the exact inverse of what plagues LeBron James and Kevin Durant as men in adulthood and as leaders.

He went out with Laura Dern in 2017, when he would have been 37 or 38 and she would have been 49 or 50.

And now shes actually the age she looked back then:

She had a really long prime. Being old forever helps. Like Samuel L Jackson. He’s been somewhere from 45-55 for about 30 years.
