Probably the most overrated coach of all time. From his absolute piss poor decision making in game six and game seven versus the Miami Heat that lost them in the 2013 finals.

To apparently here on team USA. Again.

Where he has totally and consistently dropped the ball since Coach K left. Coach K knew how to manage egos, knew how to get guys theirs while still keeping them involved in a team capacity.

Apparently the players don’t like running the San Antonio Spurs system. Which he probably implemented out of sheer laziness. Which doesn’t make sense to begin with. He has his team run a European style offense in the NBA because they lack individual talent. Making the sum greater than the parts.

He hasn’t adapted, because that doesn’t work when you actually have the quality talent. Let them be them. It’s the same mistake Larry Brown made. Trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

How are you going to out European game, the Europeans themselves?

Gregg Popovich is the most overrated basketball coach, I’ve ever seen. He should be playing to the American strength in these games. Make them adjust to US.

So? We have a lot of redundant threads around here. There’s a bunch of LeBron kiddos without jobs that make the same thread over and over again all day, every day. Your point?

Yes Gregg Popovich is an asshole, and yes he’s also a very overrated basketball coach.

I thought Pop had to be a super smart coach and a great guy bc he always says edgy woke stuff.

Weird.

No, their strength would be to focus on giving the ball to Kevin Durant to let him score. The majority of possessions. Everybody else, stand on the perimeter and stretch the floor. The rest of the guys are shooters/chuckers. Kevin Durant is a scorer who can shoot.

If he can’t command respect alpha, in a demonstrative way, give him the ball to make him the Alpha and everybody else fall in line. Forget your bruised egos.

Nobody has done enough on that team besides Kevin Durant to have an ego of that magnitude. Damian Lillard included. He’s the number 2. Let Tatum come off the bench in the KD role to give him rest as the go to ISO scorer.

Not the type of chucking they're doing right now. The offense should go through KD in the post with their shooters spacing the floor & Jrue has to play 25-30 minutes a game as their best perimeter defender.

2006? He lost once. A fluke one to Greece. Without his best player, Kobe.

Everything else was pure domination. 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016.

Gregg Popovich broke the winning streak in 2019. With a dismal record. Lost two exhibition games this summer, and already started off the Olympics with a big fat loss to ****ing France.

He’s overrated as hell. Play your euro trash ball elsewhere, with your jack ass demeanor and behavior. And your ugly pitted face.

So, what the hell are you talking about?

Someone with bball IQ who gets it. It almost feels like Gregg Popovich is deliberately losing these games in a way. Hmm.

You know he is woke and all that pandering stuff. Even though he acts like an entitled old white boomer asshole.

He should totally ceck his white privilege, and give up his coaching job to a black coach. If he truly was woken all that, you know.

a fluke? Greece ran pick and roll against them all night and coach K refused to make any adjustments until it was too late. On offense he didn't put the ball in his best player's hands. Horrible job by him and people acted like it was no big deal because it was just the World's despite sending our best team

Yes a fluke. That team plays Greece multiple times and Team USA is winning the vast majority of the time.

Either way, you don’t know what you’re talking about, and your point is retarded.

Coach K as head coach was 60-1

3x Olympic Gold Medals (2008, 2012, 2016)
3x FIBA Golds (2007, 2010, 2014)
FIBA 3rd place (2006)

Greg Popabitch as head coach?

Finished SEVENTH in 2019 FIBA
Current record 6-3
Not including the exhibition losses.

Coach K dominated as USA’s head coach for an entire decade. Only lost one game.

Gregg Popovich has already tripled that and hasn’t coached near the amount of games. No comparison. Overrated.

I actually watched the game which apparently you didn't if you thought it was a fluke. Greece dominated them and coach K made no adjustments and didn't put the ball in Lebron's hands until it was too late. Pop lost a World championship with USA's D team. Coach K lost a World championship with the A team.

Already a thread about this and like that one this one is dumb. Just watch the games. Players are trying to do the same shit they do in nba and it's not working. Defenders are actually allowed playing defense. They can do basic defensive fundamental things like hand check, body, fight through screens and truly contest without fear of being penalized by a flop. That's the other big difference is that these guys aren't getting the same trash calls they get in the nba. The starting lineup probably averages about 7 foul shots a game in the nba. Thats 35 possible points. In international play they're averaging about 2 foul shots a game That's 14 possible points. That's more than 20 points which ia huge. There's Also way more traffic in tge paint so not only are guys not getting great looks from three because of defense being allowed There's not much opportunities at the rim because the lanes are clogged.

It's basically 90's ball more or less

I think coaches can def. get away with it if they're well recognized. In terms of gauging how good a coach is, their interview demeanor is prob last on the list of what a GM cares about in a coach. I don't like how Pop acts during these interviews but as the saying goes 'action speak louder than words' or in his case, his record speaks for itself.

No one really gives two shits about a coaches international record...

do you think the Spurs organization are giving pop a second thought as their head coach?

You cant teach chemistry and prepare the way the olympic games are setup. Completely diff. than what NBA gameplay and preparation is like.
