Lebron is long in the tooth and averaged 20 ppg in his last playoff series, while AD isn't always reliable - so it was basically over unless the Lakers made a big splash, and this is the biggest splash they felt they could make... So this is a pure desperation move

It's funny because I'm sure KD/AD/Westbrook would be a goat-level team and a lot of guys would easily win the title with them - but Lebron's skillset makes it not a sure thing.. Lebron-ball won't be a #1 offense again (20 years running of zero #1 offenses), while the Lakers will win an underwhelming 50-something games just like his other big 3's in Miami or Cleveland with Kyrie/Love.
