View Full Version : Easier style/ pace to impose on an opponent?
Is it easier for a team that plays a slow methodical style to oppose its pace on it's opponent, or is it easier for a team that plays uptempo to impose its pace on another team.
For example if the Ben Wallace era Pistons who were playing at one of the slowest paces in the league scoring like 88ppg were to play the early 80's Nuggets who were playing the fastest pace in the league scoring 125ppg, which team's style would be more imposing. Would the Pistons be forced to speed up, or would the Nuggets be forced to slow down?

Slower pace would be easier to impose but the better team would still win. Obviously it all depends on the rules but if its fairly neutral to both offense and defense then the slower pace is easier.

Depends on the rules. Easier to impose slower pace in 90's. With these rules it's the opposite.

Exactly. It's a shame they don't make a hybrid of today's rules and 90's rules, so that a faster pace is forced, but aggressive defense is allowed.

Yeah it be a happy medium. Never know. They just introduced a rule that dosn't allow the offensive player to fish for fouls as much so we'll see.
