View Full Version : The GOAT standard: 3peat

MJ/Kobe/Shaq were the last all time greats to achieve this feat
KD/curry fell short and only 2peat
Lebron? The kid has yet to do a correct 2peat with full season yet
He is closer losing 3peat in the finals
Giannis? Potential is there but we’ll have to wait and see
Who you think will be the next superstar to achieve the 3peat?

The GOAT standard: 17 all nba teams in a row. 13 1st teams.
Jordan? Couldn't hack it and had to go on Load Management.
Who do you think will be the next athlete to accomplish 17 all nba teams in a row? I don't see it to be honest.
You idiots. For every championship year there's been asterisks anyway, regardless if the team who won the chip did it through collusion or by being organic.

You actually playing to win with the organization that drafted you and MJ turned an organization into a dynasty winning 5 league MVP’s, 6 Finals MVP’s, 10 Scoring titles and never losing with HCA in a series.

I would say the GOAT standard is three-peating TWICE.
I would say the GOAT standard is three-peating TWICE.
Then that would make bill russell and some of his peers the perennial leaders in this aspect. I mean they 8-peated and nobody's done that ever since.

Again Bill Russell you only had to win 2 series for a title. From 1984 forward you had to win 4 series to win a title.

Not his fault he had to play in such a dinosaur/jurassic era. :confusedshrug:

Also won multiple titles shooting 35-36%FG as a low-volume scorer as a 4th option. He did have some great runs but the 11 rings solely rests on his team being the most stacked all-time when looking at the amount of HOFers they had and how little competition the Celtics actually faced for the majority of those runs. His impact on the game outside of the court far exceeds his playing career IMO. It's impossible to rank him fairly all-time, the pre-80s players should be ranked separately and that will likely become the meta in the future as there's just so many different eras & players.

Here we go again. Jordan to James, fight to fight, punch to punch it will always be a battle that no one can win. Jordan has the bigger ring count and the cache of his shoe brand. James has the stats and the more memorable moments due to more recency on camera and in our mind. Wilt smashes LeBron stats and Russell smashes Jordan rings so in the end they are top 4 goats with Russell. Now let it be OP.

8- peat is the goat standard. Bill Russell had to face Wilt his whole career. John Stockton for Mikey? Lolol

Yes, and a strong case can be made for Bill Russell as GOAT. Personally, I have MJ as GOAT, but you can make a reasonable argument for Russel or Wilt too.

All the MVP's in 3-pointer basketball (since 1980) are dominant offensive players, so Russell isn't MVP-caliber in the modern era.
Accordingly, Jordan's 6 titles as the best player is the goat achievement winning-wise... And of course he has the goat stats and singularly unique player type (the only all-time athlete that was an all-time shooter on 2's or 3's - guys like Wilt, Lebron, Ziorn, Kemp, Dr. J - all the best athletes aren't all-time shooters, ONLY MJ, aka goat)

Yep, although i consider wilt a tad bit lower than them.

He doesn't have to score to prove he's such an effective player when it came to leadership.

How hard is it to lead 9 HOF teammates

And michael jordan only started to become mvp multiple times once scottie pippen started playing in the league. The wonders he brought to his career is so great af, don't you think?

kobe came 2 wins from 3 peating without shaq. left that sink in
also let sink in the fact that kobe has 2 threepeats if not for the original big 3 collusion and bynum/ariza's injuries
kobe SHOULD be a 6 time champ and 2 time 3 peat champion

40 straight offensively-dominant MVP's means more than continuing an upward trajectory (improving from #2 to #1 in MVP)

Yet you can't deny that he was the catalyst to this.

Kobe almost did it but didn’t
However, the general consensus in the real world will always be
MJ>Kobe>Lebron
Only a few butt hurtbutt keyboard forum warrior Lebron stans will say otherwise
