View Full Version : Oh ****. HUGE trade coming (Russell Westbrook trade being expanded)

I wonder what'll happen. Brooklyn didn't want Kuzma and Harrell. Lakers might get some... extra pieces!

[The Athletic] Hearing the most likely outcome is that the Spencer Dinwiddie sign-and-trade becomes part of the Russell Westbrook trade. That would make it, at minimum, a four-team deal (Nets, Lakers, Wizards, Pacers) that includes a sign-and-trade. It's about to get crazy out there.

6-8 teams are reported in the trade, heard some people on Twitter say Kings are one of them.

They may or may not be. The Athletic have stated 'at minimum' 4 teams. Other sources have suggested upwards of 6-8.

[Mayo] Hearing the S&T that would land Spencer Dinwiddie in Washington, from Brooklyn, could happen as soon as today/tomorrow. It’s expected to be a multi-team trade, possibly expanding across 6-8 different franchises (thus the reason things are taking so long) The Lakers are probably involved

Things'll get dicey. Anything could happen; don't rule Hield to LA out just yet.

We know the Wizards are after Dinwiddie. We just don't know the specifics and probably wont until the 6th when deals can become official.

I still think LA can somehow get Hield, despite the most recent updates:

- Dinwiddie S&T'd to Washington
- Brooklyn doesn't want Kuzma/Harrell
- San Antonio being involved
- One other team allegedly being involved

Maybe San Antonio gets Schroeder via S&T, Kings get Kuzma/Harrell, Lakers get Hield?

Not sure.

Lakers legit would have been better off just going after Hield and leaving Westbrook alone. Dwight is a nice add but they didn't need Melo or any of the other guys either.

As they were constructed last year + Hield and Dwight and maybe minus Kuzma would have been perfect.

Agreed. Keeping KCP/Caruso and getting Hield is better for this team than losing those players just for Westbrook.

The Wayne Ellington signing is decent as well, but I don't like the other signings.

Somewhat agree, but that still leaves a playmaking hole. I'd have preferred Kyle Lowry above everything else.

I think the signings are all very good. Dwight, Nunn, Ellington, Monk, Bazemore, and Ariza. All for veteran minimums is solid. Ariza is falling apart physically.

Melo I have reservations for, but if he plays 12-15mpg on minimum contract then it's not bad. His job is to shoot off the bench, which he does very well still. He plays crap defense so he will have to be hidden with defensive scheme.

All of these players are expiring contracts on veteran minimum deals and are very easy to move before the trade deadline.

Westbrook is a significant upgrade over Schroder; they needed an additional playmaker & someone who could help Lebron load manage in the RS while also winning. Melo might not be a significant addition but he's a bench guy anyways, he's a good 3PT shooter who can also create his own shot which is what the 2nd unit needed. Even without the potential Schroder S&T for Hield, the Lakers currently have more shooting & depth around Lebron than in any of the other 3 seasons. This team could win 50+ games with just Westbrook & AD if those two stayed healthy all year.

Lebron, AD, Hield, KCP, Caruso going to beat Brooklyn? Brooklyn have Joe fn Harris as a 4th option shooting 50% fg, 48% 3pt, avg 14pt.

The Wizards have been so short of talent on the back end of their rotation for years. It's weird looking at the depth chart and seeing like 11 dudes who can play.

If you're including Kuzma in your eleven, then define "can play"

The Wizards have been playing random dudes off waivers that nobody wants for significant minutes most seasons of the last 10 years. Kyle Kuzma is better than when we were trotting out like, washed up Marcus Thornton. We were depending on Anthony Gill and Chandler Hutchinson in the playoffs at the wing last year.

So the Wizards lineup is what?

Dinwiddie
Beal
KCP
Kuzma
Gafford
6m: Harrell

Then they've got Bertans, Avdija, Rui, and Kispert as well?

I expect them to be in the market for an all star who is either unhappy or overpaid. With one more all-star, this could be a 2nd-tier East team. As it is right now, I see about 6 quality wings who are all on the same level, and IMO that's a recipe for no one being happy.

No way will Kuzma and KCP be starting. I would expect at least one of them to be moved.

Yeah, there has to be another trade. Rui would probably start over Kuzma.
