(If this is in the wrong sub-forum; my bad- I didn't see one on the Olympics)

Rubio went 7-23, 30% FG shooting - killed the team with his selfishness. This is why points-watching can be dangerous. The Olympics commentators kept talking about Rubio "Leading the team with his offense". While he was technically leading the Spanish team in points, the game was very close until the end (when Spain had to foul); had Rubio moved the ball and let others with higher FG% shoot (every single Spain starter had higher FG%- link to boxscore (https://www.espn.com/mens-olympics-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401344354)), Spain might have won the game.

Rubio shot 8 3 pointers. Made only one of them. Meanwhile another Spain starter - Abalde- went 4 for 7. But Rubio kept chucking 'em. Shooting efficiency matters.

Funny that Rubio dropped 38 on the US team.

it's a fine argument but Rubio shot it because he was open, he wasn't forcing shots. Spain's inside game became ineffective towards the end, many missed bunnies.

Pau Gasol cannot play against USA, he's done. Probably the same with Rudy Fernandez.

Wow kind of crazy. In only 27 minutes.

May be the case; I actually didn't notice that so good call out. Just wondering if he could have drove and kicked. Doncic was doing that for Slovenia. Granted Rubio is no Doncic but I saw him penetrate at times, but then wasn't distributing like he could.
