Serious question for basketball historians.
How many guys can you name who won championships who at any one time were asked to be the teams best scorer, best playermaker or best defender? Meaning they had the ability to do all 3, and it is proven they did all 3?
LBJ is the obvious one, and in 2013 was his teams best at all 3 the whole playoff run.
Are there any other examples? Maybe Tim Duncan in 2003 and Hakeem in 94.
LeBron in 2012 and 2016 as well.
Debatably Jordan some years right? Idk I didn’t watch him play.
Possibly John Havlicek in the 70s.

Hondo is a good call.
With MJ i personally consider Pippen the better defender but at worse they are 1A/1B, but playmaking wise Scottie was always running the triangle, so I wouldn’t say MJ was his teams best playmaker. He did carry the weakest scoring outputs ever to titles tho because his scoring was so elite.

Finished 2nd in DPOY twice, was considered the best defender on the planet last 2 years in Miami but okay.

Pau was running the triangle and you could argue was the best defender on the team. Imagine thinking Kobe was his teams best defender when in a finals in which he could have guarded Pierce or Allen he guarded Rondo

Hakeem . Duncan and lebron for sure. Jordan was in the first title or two. Giannis gets that. And add wilt for a bit. Kobe yeah maybe
Doesn't really matter tho . You don't need to lead your team in all stat's just play your role

Kobe wasn’t even close to being the best defensive player on the 09, 10 Lakers. Manny is a retard.

You don’t have to be a playmaker when you run an actual offense.

Of guys not mentioned yet, Frazier, Barry & Wade would all have the scoring & playmaking covered, though not sure if all 3 would get the nod for their teams best defender
Giannis is NOT a better playmaker than Jrue Holiday are you guys on crack?

He’s not very bright, go easy on him.

Decent calls. Clyde was the best playmaker and defender but Willis was the primary scorer both title years. Barry was the best scorer and playmaker, arguable defense because the team he had was average.
06 Wade is tight, they did have elite defenders like GP/Zo and Shaq was underrated, but he prolly was the best defender because Zo/GP were only limited in minutes so I’d give him all 3 in 06.
