Looks like our pullout from Afghanistan is a white flag that really means we were fighting a losing battle all along.
The Taliban will probably regain it's control of Afghanistan.
Sounds a little like Vietnam.

More like it sounds like an endless war that was sold to the American people for the wrong reasons.
Also, how many times does it need to be said? Countries pretty much have to change organically. If the citizens at large do not have the will to enact said change, they do not really want said change. So it will always be.

It was a stupid war in the first place. I feel bad for all the men who lost their lives as a result of following a commander (Bush) who bypassed and broke war laws to get us and keep us there. The real "weapon of mass destruction" was the US going to engage with population control

But muslims would like us all to think these 'extremists' are a minority while they completely regain control of a country in a month...

It's pretty much exactly like Vietnam except this time we knew it from the beginning from the Soviets. They went into Afghanistan, bled hundreds of billions (we bled like 2 trillion), eventually pulled out, and Afghanistan fell to insurgents. We learned nothing from Vietnam and Soviet's invasion of Afghanistan. What else did we expect??
If it falls then it falls. It's not our job to be the world's policemen. Just hope that instability doesn't spread to Pakistan and other bordering countries. In Vietnam, we had the same fear of the Domino effect, but luckily it didn't exactly happen as feared. Vietnam fell to the commie bastards and bordering countries didn't fall with it. I think it will be the same way with Afghanistan - extremist insurgent groups will overtake Afghanistan, and it will stop right there. We might have to break diplomatic ties & vacate the embassy just like in Saigon if the Afghanistan government falls.

Oh and I should probably add that when the Soviets were in Afghanistan, we supported, trained & armed groups like Al Qaeda and Taliban. They are some of the same folks using some of the same weapons from the 1980s. They were just waiting for us to leave before taking over. We could have stayed another decade or left a decade earlier, and it would have fallen within months then too. It was never going to not be the case. Same as Vietnam.

Afghanistan is basically like ancient China where regions are divided and central control is weak and impossible to maintain.

I'm sure money was made. This was Bush, Obama and Trumps Vietnam. Triggered by 9/11.
Will Biden go down in history as the correct decisionmaker on this?

Biden knows he is going to get backlash for pulling out of Afghanistan from a lot of people. That is why he is trying to keep quiet about Afghanistan when being asked. The republican party is getting ready to weaponize it as a ploy to play politics - in 2016, they used it as a ploy on democrats by by claiming Obama didn't want to pull out of Afghanistan. It will be a completely opposite argument leading up to 2022 and 2024, attacking Biden for pulling out & the country falling to the taliban.
It's not like there is a choice. We have been there last 20 years, and it's time to go. Some president is going to have to do it if not Biden. Might as well be Biden.

Sure. It's easy legacy points for JB and he went for it. The US makes deals to produce weapons to keep our military going and war is a way to keep the industrial military complex busy. War is profits so maybe big business wants to go that route. Money is lent, interest accrues.

The army has been training Afghan forces through the 2010s and tons of them have desserted, now probably being part of the Taliban forces instead.
Left a bunch of equipment for them as well.
