This Report responds to the invitation for IPCC ‘… to provide a Special Report in 2018 on the impacts of global warming of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways’ contained in the Decision of the 21st Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to adopt the Paris Agreement

The IPCC accepted the invitation in April 2016, deciding to prepare this Special Report on the impacts of global warming of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways, in the context of strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change, sustainable development, and efforts to eradicate poverty.

This Summary for Policymakers (SPM) presents the key findings of the Special Report, based on the assessment of the available scientific, technical and socio-economic literature relevant to global warming of 1.5°C and for the comparison between global warming of 1.5°C and 2°C above pre-industrial levels. The level of confidence associated with each key finding is reported using the IPCC calibrated language.

The underlying scientific basis of each key finding is indicated by references provided to chapter elements. In the SPM, knowledge gaps are identified associated with the underlying chapters of the Report.

One country going green while the rest of the world doesn’t commit to it is pointless.

Not to mention in a 2019 EPA study the US had a 12% decrease of greenhouse gas emissions since 2005, so we’re doing our part.

Non-issue.

The US is already doing it’s job on the “climate change” front. It’s worthless anyways because of India and China lol.

Anyways, remember when the IPCC said ocean levels are rising because of the melting ice caps from climate change (global warming back then)? And remember when UF did a study that took data from 57 US tide-gauge stations that had readings from the past 156 years that proved the IPCC’s claim wrong and that levels were actually decreasing which was consistent with worldwide gauge records?

Climate change is a globalist agenda. Globalists aren’t looking out for the best interest of the individual. Kind of like Thanos.

This is true, those countries must continue to modernize and we need to convince them to fall in line.

I'd love to see the data. Look, they are not always right about every theoretical detail but it does seem like the overwhelming majority of scientists agree... we cannot sustain our current way of doing things, especially in the industrialized parts of the world and we need to continue to change and modernize our infrastructure. Period. The data is OVERWHELMING and TOTAL.

Climate change is a globalist agenda. Globalists aren’t looking out for the best interest of the individual. Kind of like Thanos.

It's mostly a globalist agenda, it's definitely not a nationalist agenda. I wish it were.

once the atmosphere becomes uninhabitable we would have to go into a space-like habitat. Biospheres would need to be erected at high prices. Food would be made from completely artificial means (cloning, etc). It would definitely be different, can we avoid this fate?

you know who would suffer the most? the poor.

We are getting there at a quick rate. I already eat mostly farm raised fish. Not cloned, though. Maybe in 50years.

Climate change is real... but its not an existential threat to humanity, and the only reason the elites of this world pretend to care about the climate is because they want to use it as another mechanism to control your life.

If the liberal elites were actually worried about the future or gave a fvck about the climate, people like Obama wouldnt buy $12m estates at sea level on marthas vineyard, or host birthday parties where hundreds of his "sophisticated" friends all fly to the party on their own private jets... and an "environmentalist" billionaire like Bill Gates wouldnt own a dozen mansions, have a small army of personal staff/servants, and fly ~150 private flights every year - ffs Bills carbon footprint is the size of an entire neighborhood or town.

you have it backwards, why do you think the party of the rich business elite don't care about climate change? because they would rather get rid of the poorer classes with culture change genocide. the elite industrialists would be depended upon for food and shelter, thats the way they like it. they want to charge money for everything, even the air you breathe.

youre lucky theres still a party that still listens to the poor, even as it tries to use them for gainssssss ( lazy, sleazy, bureaucratic dems ).

Nanners’ problem is he thinks liberals represent the left. They don’t. Leftists do and leftists have been sounding the alarm on climate change for a long time.

Considering all of the harsh environments where huge numbers of humans are living at this very moment, and considering the vast changes in climate that have taken place during the past tens of thousands of years of human evolution (humans existed during the ice age), you have to be beyond retarded to think that man made climate change actually threatens the existence of humans.

If climate change was a real threat, the elites would make actual meaningful efforts to protect the environment... they are highly invested in their well being and they dont have some other planet they can leave to. But our elites dont protect the environment, they just use the concept of environmentalism as a tool to increase their power and fortune.

You're never going to convince China and India to fall in line lmao. China does whatever tf it wants in their conquest for domination and India is a third world country that can't even maintain it's power grid as is....and you expect them to go green? We are crippling ourselves for no reason.

As for the IPCC data. Here you go: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/mar/28/al-gores-seawater-swindle/

A former research director with the Army Corps of Engineers and a former civil-engineering professor at the University of Florida decided to put the sea-rise claims to the test. They gathered U.S. tide-gauge readings from 57 stations where water levels had been continuously recorded for as long as 156 years. The result did suggest the sea level was increasing in the western Pacific, but this was offset by a drop in the level near the Alaskan coast. “Our analyses do not indicate acceleration in sea level in U.S. tide gauge records during the 20th century,” the study’s authors concluded. “Instead, for each time period we consider, the records show small decelerations that are consistent with a number of earlier studies of worldwide-gauge records.”

If you want to take the IPCC's science as fact more power to you. Just know they are not free from financial and political conflicts of interest and there is plenty out there refute their findings. The Heartland Institute wrote about it just a couple years ago - https://www.heartland.org/publications-resources/publications/why-scientists-disagree-about-global-warming

You cannot force third world countries to adhere to strict pollution laws... they wont have the opportunity to develop as quickly with those type of regulations.

Imagine we had our current EPA standard during our industrial revolution... we may be living in a greener world today, but we would be far behind in development.

We must continue to depend less on fossil fuels. Period. When you burn them they collect in the atmosphere. We live in a fish bowl. The gasses will continue to warm the planet until we are cooked. Then who knows how we are going to live? Sure, an asteroid can come and blow us up anyways but intelligent society wants to leave a habitable planet for future generations and for the defrosting of Walt Disney, Einstein, Jesus etc (joke).

Again (assuming the science is even correct in the first place), for this to even matter China has to stop using fossil fuels and India can't be dependent on them or the effort is pointless. Solve those problems first before you plunge us in to a deal that's going to bolster our greatest adversary while hurting our own people.

I guess we should have not created an electric grid after electricity was created because China and Europe was using candles. We should have waited for them. I remember when the USA was a badass, leading the way in the latest technologies. Now we have to drag our ass because of legacy industries. We can barely pass the minimum needed for new infrastructure. Weak. It's fine, I'll just move to Europe or China.

Look, I’m all for electric vehicles. Innovation people desire will drive the market share and we can transform as it grows. I’m just not for the government forcing it thus making all combustible engine vehicles obsolete. Just paid off your car and are out from that $350/month payment that’s been a thorn in your side?
