Maybe this will be a rude awakening to not go into needless wars that could have been avoided. This Afghanistan war could have been much more limited in scope to focusing only on al qaeda from day 1. There was no need to spread out troops across the entire country.

I bet many of the taliban people had joined the afghan army until the US began to evacuate. It would keep their salary coming and they get military training then as soon as the evacuation begins, they simply change allegiances to the Taliban. I bet some of the civilians were doing the same thing by playing both sides for as long as it benefits them. It's very difficult to fight a war against a huge group like taliban that lives, fights and works within civilian circles. You can never tell the good guys from the bad.
