LeBron Stans scrambling with this one. Hell, LeBron’s paid mouth piece was looking to twist the answer as well.

“Kobe and LeBron might’ve gave me 40 once. Jordan was a little better than those guys. Mike could probably give me 50. I mean he gave us 40 when I was in my prime and he was old.”

OP and MWP are both idiots and here`s why:

-Michael Jordan averaged 22.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 5 games versus Metta Sandiford-Artest in his career. He, Ron Artest did not even enter his prime in 2002-2003, what the fk is he talking about?

-LeBron James has averaged 26.9 points, 6.8 assists and 6.7 rebounds in 21 games versus Metta Sandiford-Artest in his career.

-Kobe Bryant averaged 27.6 points, 6.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 20 games versus Metta Sandiford-Artest in his career.

Defensive awards are given on reputation, so you need a season or 2 of elite defense to start getting those. Artest in 01-02 was already an elite defender... ask anyone. 03 Artest is almost as good as 04 Artest on the defensive end. 05 was the malice in the palace so he only played like 10 games. we're not able to tell if his spike in production was just a fluke or not.

Yeah Artest was close to his defensive peak the years he faced Jordan. He was lighter and much more mobile making him a better perimeter defender compared to his later years.

I dont know if I remember it right but I think Artest tried to gain weight and put on more muscle in preparation for the upcoming young superstars in the league (Melo and Bron) but the downside was he lost quickness and mobility.

Uh no. Older Artest was by far better and smarter player

Semantics really. Fact is, anyone who recalls Artest from the early 2000s remembers that he was an elite defensive player. He was All-Defensive 2nd team in 2003, and would have won honors in 2002 as well had he not missed so many games and averaged more minutes.

By 2003-04, he was DPOY. That doesn't happen overnight. You're either a great defensive player or you're not. And Artest was 24 at the time.

Btw, I wouldn't put too much stock into what Ron Artest says. However, the part about MJ's strength is true. Centers used to attest to this (I specifically recall hearing Zo talk about it in an interview), and Ewing mentioned similar in an interview mentioned on ESPN.com during the early 90s. 90s MJ was a ridiculously strong player, let alone 40 year old MJ.

Smarter maybe but the guy lost a ton of athelticism as he got older so how could he be better? Its not as if he lost his craziness as the years went by lol.

He was deceptively athletic (like young Pierce) as a younger player. However Pierce and Artest developed an old man’s game that ultimately made them better in their twilight years (getting to spots making right moves)

Youre probably right as an overall player but defensively he was just much slower than before making it harder to defend the quicker perimeter players especially the one who move great off the ball. Even in the year that he won Dpoy he got abused by Rip Hamilton coming off screens because he started getting bigger which in turn hurt his mobility in fighting through picks.

How are they scrambling when they haven't even had a chance to respond before you? They probably hadn't even seen the thread. :kobe:

Seems more like you were scrambling to "own" the "LeBron Stans" and made an extremely petty reply that wasn't funny or annoying at all.

Way to make a fool out of yourself :kobe:

40 year old was considered the GOAT at the time. The same standards we are holding LeBron today (at age 36 season 19) it's the same way I hold (40 year old 15 seasons) Michael Jordan.

Because 40 year old MJ was considered MVP candidate?

It's not about age but mileage.

36 years old but Went to 9 finals in 11 years and played 19 seasons.

Taken you guys two weeks to latch onto this interview... It'll take you guys another two weeks to post the meme about LeBron having a stunt double to fight cartoon characters in Space Jam 2.

At some point age is a bigger factor than milage, else star players, who had no team success could play well into their 40s.

Jordan was in the mix for MVP before his knee injury.

Op is definitely trolling a but but 22 points a game vs one of the best defenders as a 40 year old is pretty impressive. Mj was a shell of his prime self at that point.

Yeah mj was harder to gaurd than bron but Artest didn't "ether" him. He also said bron was still hard to gaurd he just wasn't as hard to gaurd as mj.

In fact, the title of the video you posted mentioned Kobe. Also ethered..?
