They're old, but they have a lot of talent. Being a Laker hater, I hope Ric Bucher is right, but I'm not ready to count them out just yet.

Anthony Davis is in his prime. Westbrook is just beginning to decline. Yes, Lebron, Dwight, and Carmelo are old, but they are also three of the better players in history. Mixed in there are some young, talented guys, and I think that they will make a bigger difference than most people realize.

Media is not happy Lebron is giving success to superstars they hate like Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and Carmelo Anthony.

Umm because you do realize that you root for them right?

They have a better lineup this year. And just last year, if only AD was healthy, they would have gone to the finals.

I remember aged teams getting the job done with far less talent. If the Lakers don't win it all this year, it'll be because the roster is poorly constructed from top to bottom, not because they're "too old".

They don't even know who their starting center is going to be yet. Their line up isn't better by any stretch of the imagination.

Saying this is the actual stretch. Maybe if schroder turned out to be what he was supposed to be for that team, but schroder was disappointing, trez was useless or unused, I did not like losing Dwight, our 3 point shooting was atrocious... IMHO this year's roster is much better.

No, it's not. LeBron is another year older and now he's got arguably the worst PG in terms of fit he's ever had to play alongside who is not effective without the ball and plays no defense. Schroder was obviously a disappointment but still at least a better fit. Dwight is also another year older and not to mention the reason he was so effective in the second run with the Lakers is because he came off the bench. You lose that same degree of effectiveness if he's in your starting unit. No Pope, who helped them defensively, in fact most of the team is starved of people who could play defense now. They don't even have a Kyle Kuzma to provide them with decent scoring off the bench. Instead they have...Carmelo Anthony.

You know what? I completely forgot that Carmelo was on the team now. No, I'm not kidding. I actually forgot about him. Not going to bother saying anything else. This years line up is worse. CARMELO ANTHONY. PROOF. BOOM.

Done.

Just saying it's a stretch to say there's no argument at all for preferring this year's roster to last year's. You're probably right about the defense but I was just so frustrated with the 3 point shooting this past season that that's what I was focusing most on.

I get the Westbrook argument, people are pretty split on how they feel about that acquisition and I also was not that happy with it at first (wanted hield like many others) but now I think if our big 3 can just constantly attack the basket and break down defenses and get open looks for our 3 point shooters, our offense could be effective.

I feel like Carmelo added some real value during his Portland stint and can still shoot so not too unhappy about that. But yeah, defense could be a problem this upcoming season. I think Dwight will still deliver on that end though and AD is of course a specialist there, is ariza still a good defender?
