If you squint, it really does look like the poor man's version of some of those mid 2000's Mavs teams. Brogdan is the poor man's Kidd. Levert is the poor man's JET. TJ Warren is the poor man's Michael Finley. Sabonis is the poor man's Dirk in this case. This is an overwhelmingly mediocre team.

Who are they supposed to overtake in their conference when some of their rivals have gotten better in offseason?

I expect them to be a middle of the pack playoff team barring injuries. They were the 4th seed a few seasons ago and getting an elite championship level coach in Carlisle would probably solve the chemistry issues that has plagued the team the last few years.

I remember the first time Carlisle coached the Pacers wherein he inherited a similarly talented but underperforming group from Isiah Thomas and led that team to the best record in the league in 2004 (61 wins) and a few wins away fro making the Finals.

Dirk didn't shot that many 3's, especailly compared to guys today. Shot it more than Sabonis, but it's like 2.5 pergame vs. 4
