View Full Version : If Iverson was 6'6 and played in 90s with Pippen his whole career, how many chips?

Let's assume he doesn't bitch out and retire three times.

Is he winning 7 or 8?

At least 12. And that's just in the 90s.

More then 6.

I doubt he would even retire 3 times.

Iverson's already the goat, so if you just magically made him taller it'd just widen the gap. at least 9 rings in op's scenario.

Add Dennis Rodman and Horace Grant in there too.

A few rings.

Michael Jordan was much smarter than Allen Iverson.

Organic Dynasties are based on intelligence. Iverson loses in any scenario in the 90s where stars always played and teams faced gauntlets.

Give Kawhi a Kyle Lowry and he wins so then Pippen is overkill even if you shrink Kawhi to 6'6.

I hate this hypothetical because if iverson was 6'6 he probably dosn't have the same speed and ability but if he did at 6'6 he'd be ridiculous and win a bunch of chips

Iverson was probably the most inefficient high volume in nba history. Would he have been better if he was 6'6? Probably yes, but impossible to play that "if" game. The "if" game is endless for every great player if you start playing it. What if Barkley had this, what if T-Mac was that, what if Carmelo was this, what if Garnett did that, what if Bird was that.. it's infinite possibilities and probabilities once we start playing that game..

Since iverson is already a top 10 player of all time i say they win 10 championships. Iversons inefficiency goes away with the height increase

And he'd be bound as the finals mvp too

He was but he also played most of his prime during the toughest defensive era

Iverson will keep his speed but maybe a little bit less as we know there are fast big guys that move even at the taller heights.

The triangle needed a dominant post player, so Iverson couldn't win in that offense

Iverson also couldn't average the 33.5 playoff average to win with those Bulls - Jordan averaged 34/7/7 in the 91-93' Playoffs and 36/7/8 in those Finals - his lowest title run was 31 ppg

He wouldn't be AI if he was 6'6 IMO.

I saw the meme about Max Kellerman saying this. Tbh, it's easy to have that idea, but it fails for two reasons:

1) AI didn't have the basketball IQ, both offensively and defensively, of some of his peers. It's silly to think that adding height would change that, and much of a player's success is dependent on IQ as well as skill.

2) AI made up for his height with amazing quickness. Intuition tells me that if he is 6'6", he also has more weight, and as a result, his additional height+weight results in him losing quickness. He moved off the ball very well and was able to scurry around the court, away from defenders, using his quickness. I think that changes significantly if he is taller/has more weight.

The triangle needed a dominant post player, so Iverson couldn't win in that offense

And if you don't use the triangle than you lose Pippen, who was nothing without it

Lastly, I think it's comical that anyone thinks rookie Pippen would develop as a facilitator alongside a ball-dominator like Iverson, compared to an assist target like Jordan.. you guys don't know the game

Yeah but there's no 6'6 players as quick as iverson. Mj was pretty quick especially in the 80's and early 90's but even he wasn't as quick as iverson. That's really why iverson was so deadly. his skill combined with his speed was next level. Take just a little bit of that speed away and he's not the same.

Imagine thinking that Iverson is a top ten player of all time. He's not even a top 5 player at his own position.

Top 3 player at his own position top 10 player of all time, this is consensus on this board get with the program or get smashed by the program

Your program is full of shit. Iverson would be lucky to get in the top 30.

Yeah its a big what if with Iverson being 6'6". Pretty sure he would develop into a different player because he would have learned to take advantage of his height instead of just relying on speed and quickness while chucking up shots.

Agreed. It's counter-intuitive, reality. He loses speed and quickness and height doesn't equate to a higher basketball IQ. If anything, Iverson becomes a worse player, not better, if he's bigger. At the very least, the assumption can be that there really is no change.

I think this is more Iverson keeping his skills and athleticism but as a 6’6 guard

The bad shots and inefficiency would still be there and yeah height never stopped anybody from being a smarter player on the court.

THREAD CLIFFS

6'6" Iverson (6/6) > 6'8" Westbrook (4/10)

It's true that Iverson had good jumpshooting skill and wasn't as ball-dominant as Westbrook
