Players like Curry, Klay shoot the ball the second they get a good look.

While others have to always delay their shot with moves, dribbling, holding ball longer in shot pocket or release.

Quick release is one aspect of good shooting...I would argue that the most important is accuracy though. Speed of release is a distant third.

Curry/Klay are just one-dimensional 3-point shooters whose first-mover strategic advantage dried up really quick.. That's why veteran champion Curry was lottery last year with zero impact - every team uses 3-point strategy now and shoot threes well as a team - they don't need 1 juggernaut shooter like Curry - that isn't an advantage anymore.

Without 3-pointers or today's high screen roll strategy that gets threes for ball-handlers and spot-up players, Curry and Klay wouldn't be ballplayers in the 60's, 70's, 80's, or 90's

But Curry isnt that, hes elite from mid range, has an elite floater, elite handles, and elite offball movement. His iq isnt great as he doesn’t always put himself in ideal situations, but his all time level skills bail him out. We just need to see if Curry can be a consistent finals performer without a superteam.

Curry isn't elite from mid-range because he never takes them.. he only takes a few dozen a year and only open ones - the strength of mid-range shots is that they're meant to be contested so there's nothing a defense can do about them - but again, Curry can only take open mid-range, and therefore rarely takes any

Infact, Curry cannot elevate on his jumper and can't pull-up off a hard dribble - so that's a problem because a staple of mid-range shots is elevating off a hard dribble, which Curry doesn't do (and therefore is an inferior jumpshooter to say, Jordan or Kobe)
