Inadvertently, he got him killed due to his increasing gambling antics back in the day right?

My favorite part of the video is the fact that it is abundantly clear that it is lost on MJ that while the players play the game, individuals don't win championships and it requires a front office to make the right decisions to acquire the right players, get a little lucky, and hire the right coach.

So not only did him losing for years without help not make it clear to him, now years upon years upon years of failure in the front office has not proven it to him.

I mean does he think it's all just 100% luck which organizations win championships based on which players fall into their lap despite the fact that certain orgs win or at/near the top year after year after year?

It is both true that organizations and players win championships... but organizations are more important. You can luck into the lottery of having the absolute best player in the league, maybe even league history, and still not win a title for their 15 year career.

Compare MJs productions to Magics, Clydes, Barkleys, and Malones. He destroyed them H2H. And some of those series came down to a single shot. *cough* paxson. They needed every drop to win. So he was the driving force. The differentiator.

I just find it funny his dad treated him like a Nancy boy. Definitely gave him his tough guy edge that lack of approval. If he had no dad or was coddled wed never see that true inner killer come out. Its almost like reverse psychology.

Are we thinking of the same set of series? The bulls never came to the last shot….or even game…with any of those teams.

MJ talks about how tough the 98' Pacers were at the 2:30 mark.

Imagine carrying a team by yourself over a juggernaut like the 98' Pacers... We aren't talking about a bunch of rookies like the 18' Celtics or only needing 22/6/6 to beat the 14' Pacers - the 98' Pacers were experienced vets that took the 00' Lakers to 7 games (if not for Kobe's heroics in that OT).

They also missed the playoffs in '97, and lost to the 8th seeded Knicks in '99 without Ewing

I love how the Pacers are suddenly "Juggernauts" because of narratives but Im not complaining lol. God knows how underrated those teams were especially nowadays.

The Pacers were never a real serious threat to win the title.

The Jazz would have beat them in 1998

The spurs in 1999 would have destroyed them

And the Lakers were never truly worried about losing to them in 2000.

Speculation. To my knowledge, there was never any actual evidence of that.

After Portland, any team after was going to be easy. Those Blazers were stacked.

The Lakers were very lucky to get out of that game seven against Portland on the winning side,

As it took a massive choke by Portland for us to come back in the fourth quarter of that game seven.

Once we got past them all of us Laker fans knew we winning the title.

Huh? I mean there's a story behind it.
