Pippen couldn't handle quick wings with good handle like Hill or Kobe:

Here's Kobe shaking his head after breaking Pippen BADLY in 99' - Pippen is joke to him:

But just a few months earlier, Jordan had no problem stuffing Kobe's crossover in 98' ASG:

Here's another one - Pippen can't handle Grant off-the-dribble - he can't stay in front:

But MJ can - he stays in front of Grant every step of the way and forces wild shot:

^^^^^ that's the tip of the iceberg

The reason MJ was so much better defending quick ballhandlers like Hill, Kobe or Westbrook is because he was a 2-guard, and was the frequently the primary, all-game defender on quick point guards.

For example, MJ was matched up against Gary Payton from the TIP-OFF in Game 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meL62CUehuw&t=0m48s) and Game 5 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFiqeJcgXfg) of the NBA Finals and was the main defender throughout the game..

MJ was also the main defender and matched up from the tip-off against Isiah Thomas (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9MfhFFE7fc&t=0m28s) and Rod Strickland (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3JqY3CECW8).. And we all know he was matched up from tip-off against Magic, when he guarded Magic for 14 of 20 quarters (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11713075&postcount=45) (70%) in the 1991 Finals.

MJ's far greater experience playing quick ballhandling guards and his superior athleticism made him a better perimeter defender than Pippen..

Pippen ethered?

Pippen was longer but slower, he was a forward after all.

Yea Jordan (and later Jordan/Harper as Jordan aged) had the perimeter covered...

Imagine clowning on 99 Pippen when in 91-96 he carried MJ and didn't take two years off like a soft phaggit.

Pippen couldn't guard Kobe so we can only imagine the practice sessions where Jordan made Pippen a man:

JERRY KRAUSE, BULLS GM:

“Would Pippen have been great someplace else?

Michael absolutely killed Scottie in practice every day for his first two years. Mike just tore Pip up. He made Pip learn how to compete and forced him into playing hard. Had there not been someone to challenge Scottie like that, I’m not sure what would’ve happened to him... No, Michael made him a man.

Michael made him a man and Doug [Collins] did a great job with him in his first year. And he - Collins - had Michael to beat on him for a year every day in practice and Michael beat him to death."

In 3-pointer history, Pippen has the lowest peak stats of any sidekick that won multiple rings, except for Pau, and there's never been a bigger gap between 1st and 2nd option than MJ/Pippen.. MJ doubled Pippen's playoff scoring average while averaging more assists and assisting 33% more often (assist percentage).

Ultimately, most winning sidekicks are infact elite 1st options, and Pippen wasn't.

The only sidekicks that never achieved FMVP or elite 1st option stats in any series or season (true 2nd options) are Pippen, Klay, Rip Hamilton, Horry and Jason Terry - every other sidekick achieved elite 1st option stats or FMVP (Magic, Kareem, McHale, Dr. J, Worthy, Dumars, Drexler, Robinson, Kobe, Shaq, Parker, Wade, Kyrie, Curry, AD, Middleton)..

Pippen was a 2nd option, so he's inferior to nearly all of the 1st options listed above that played sidekick for other stars.

I went to college near Chicago and it was common knowledge that scrimmages were setup for Jordan to have all the bench players and Pippen all the starters, and Jordan would win every time - this was for their entire tenure together... It was common knowledge that Jordan destroyed Pippen in practice.. NO ONE thought for a nanosecond that pippen could guard Jordan and no one ever said "pippen guarded jordan well in practice"... people only said that jordan destroyed everyone.

to be clear - pippen was known as jordan's BITCH... you guys are literally revising history and making shit up by acting like he was a mega star and dominated - he literally NEVER DOMINATED a single series and usually wet the bed.... he was a coattalier that was inflated by the winning spotlight - NO ONE has seen their career ranking more inflated by winning than Pippen.

3ball: Me and Raja Bell almost fought in one of my first practices at FIU because I was a newcomer that was playing well and I'd started talking shit - Raj felt insecure and tried to start something because it was his team
