Listing 4-5 all nba first teamers as role players sure helps your squad out.

Stockton, Pippen and McHale are hall of famers. Your list suggests anyone who isnt a GOAT candidate is a role player.
If we're including HOF second options as role players we might as well put Kobe and Wade on the list.
TRUE role players would be guys like Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Chris Bosh, Anthony Davis (whom you correctly listed), Zydrunas Ilgauskus etc.

How are multiple time All Star, All NBA, and HOF players "role players"?
A role player has never made an All Star game. Id pick
Jason Terry
Mike Miller
Shane Battier
Lamar Odom
Marcus Camby
^^^ all never made an All Star team. Terry and Odom surprised me. They were easily all star talents.

thats the point of them being the greatest role players in the history of the sport. They are able to make 1st team all nba teams at some point

Wade won a ring as the guy... and Kobe was 1B to shaqs 1A (more of a batman & superman partnership than a batman and robin like kobe & pippen). He led them past teams as the guy before the finals and later won a ring as the guy
Kobe would carry them through the brutal west and a fresh shaq would dominate the weak east in the finals.
all those player your named in ur 3rd paragraph are role players because they could and would never lead a team to a ring.i agree with u in that

we have different definitions of a role player. a role player is someone who assists the superstar in my eyes..They also can not win a ring as the guy.you are naming like bench spark plugs. Thats something completely different to me and lower on the totem pole
we clearly have 2 different definitions

if you have been a 1st option for the majority of your career i dont consider you a role player like a donovan mitchell and no one considers him an all time great so thats not true

They also can not win a ring as the guy..
That’s a pretty fabricated concept to begin with. Pretty much every even borderline contender is the right sequence of injuries from winning. Everyone to ever be in the finals was the right rolled ankle from winning it. Injuries help decide who wins every single year and people keep up the idea that winning is some scientific formula that requires exactly this component or that one.
Have a team that can be one of the last 4 standing….you can probably win a ring. Who does and doesn’t changes the narratives a lot more than it should.
We should probably eliminate “Can’t win. ….” from the description of like 90% of the stars it was ever said about.
Demar Derozan might be a finals mvp dropped onto the 04 Pistons. Ewing has a ring if Starks makes the jumper to end game 6 of the 94 finals. The Raptors made it to the finals to face an injury decimated team on a 4 bounce corner pull-up. Facing Steph with no Durant and Klay hurt and then out for good?
Sometimes things just go well. And every title team relied on that as much or more than the individual talent of it’s assumed best player.

Derozan and Ewing were the guy + #1 options on their team for the majority of their career. They are not role players whether they win or lose a ring. Same with Giannis if he never won a ring he's not a role player. Jrue is a role player. Starks was a role player. Lowry was a role player
I put they cant lead their team to a ring because ppl would try to name players like steph/wade/kobe as a role player trying to be funny when they're not because they won as the guy
