hate equals greatness

its why I realized lebron was top 3 all time. people only hold seething levels of hatred for kobe, lebron or jordan

those are the 3 guys that represent the nba and its history more than anyone

its all people think about. it's why OP made this thread. kobe is a threat

lebron was a threat and now I'm telling the truth because I no longer want to waste my life away. theres bigger things than basketball

Gasol with no playoff wins? What’s the big deal about getting a guy with zero playoff wins in six years?

5/7 as the best player, or best perimeter player. In his 10 year prime. Out West.

Too bad gay media hated him and didn't average Westbrook type stats sadly.

Imagine if Kobe did something cowardly like… leaving his team to join Dirk in Dallas or KG in Minnesota.

Kobe had a bad rep as a mean guy and ball-stopper, but his goat skill allowed great fits with Shaq and turned Pau from a 1x all-star into all-nba champion, while turning the triangle into a champion again too - only goat skill has done this.

Did you actually read what Dirk said ? he said on your post he couldn't put on another uniform playing for another Team and City, Dirk didn't say he wouldn't play with Kobe but couldn't play for The Lakers and for LA any other Teams because Dallas is his team and Dallas is his City his home, where did you get Dirk having a problem playing with Kobe ? Dirk had a problem playing for another team and another City.

Imagine if Kobe let NJ draft him like they wanted to, instead of telling all teams that he would only sign with the contending Lakers.

It's almost as dumb as holding his Utah airballs against him when discussing how good he was in his prime.

Howard left because Kobe's criticism about his attitude and playing soft Kobe was trying to teach him how to become a champion mentally but Howard didn't want to hear it and didn't like Kobe bothering him about his play, Kobe demanded more but Howard didn't feel he should play harder while in pain after that Howard left and hasn't been the same ever since so maybe Kobe was right because nobody wanted Howard because of his poor play not playing up to the level of a champion.

In a 2015 interview with USA Today, Bryant said he "tried teaching Dwight" what it took to win a championship, but the three-time Defensive Player of the Year wasn't ready to accept the challenge.

Howard said, "I know that I approached that season wanting to be the best version of myself and also the man," Howard said. "You know, I'm young, I just felt like that at the time. It was really hard for me and Kobe to really communicate. I think we were just at two different mental stages."

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/news/lakers-dwight-howard-kobe-bryant/1i6ts0eov1ejz1bngixd71erkt

Howard wasn’t sturdy enough to handle Bryant or the pressure of playing in Los Angeles, he will never convince Lakers fans he left to purse a better professional situation.
https://www.dailynews.com/2014/10/29/dwight-howard-disputes-he-left-lakers-because-he-was-afraid-of-kobe-bryant/

https://www.sportsmanor.com/nba-heres-what-caused-the-feud-between-kobe-bryant-and-dwight-howard/

Howard asked Kobe these questions:

“What should I do to get better?” Dwight Howard recalls asking Bryant, via Shams Charania of The Athletic. “He was like: ‘What you mean? You’re already one of the best in the world. What do you mean? Continue to do what you’re doing, continue to play hard. Work on the elbow jump shot and bank shots.’ I was like, ‘Well, how many shots do you shoot in a day?’ He said he used to make 1,000 shots a day. That’s what I started doing: Shooting and making 1,000 jump shots a day. And the next year (2010-11), I was second in the MVP (race, behind Derrick Rose).

“I’ll never forget that. The reason why he said do that wasn’t because he wanted me to shoot all jump shots — it was more so the will.”

No Howard Kobe wanted you to shoot jump shots so you didn't always have to post up throwing up crazy shots Kobe wanted you to develop your game like Duncan hitting bank shots and jumpers but you didn't get that and still can hit a jumper.

He could have been the starting SG for the Nets, but instead chose to ride the bench his first 2yrs with LA before finally becoming a starter in year 3.

He wanted not part in trying to build a contending team in NJ, just wanted to be on one as soon as possible. If playing in the NBA was that important to him, he would have let the chips fall and see what happened like dozens before him who didn't make demands before playing a single minute in the NBA.

Stifled the careers of 2 future All-Stars as well in his last seasons.

Truly one of the worst teammates we’ve ever seen. If not for mythology and narrative he’d never be discussed.

probably the person I dislike the most after lebron

terrible teammate
uncoachable
ran shaq off
chucker
highly overrated defender
career less than 5 assists per game

career 44% shooter, 32% from 3 point land like do you know how many people have higher averages than that? Gilbert arenas's eyes used to light up every time kobe came out to guard him tells you a lot about his defense too. This dude got lit up by a TON of people, and the media will never say a word about that.

I just don't understand how you have so many hall of fame teammates and can't manage 5 assists while also shooting 44%

This. LeBron was scared of the moment so he had to collude with strong players to win it all.
