Kiki VanDeWeghe was the first to really utilize the step back move in their arsenal

I'm pretty sure they used to call it the "Kiki move" or something before they called it the step back

Bird was doing it in the early 80s. Here he takes Dominique's ankles and keeps them as a souvenir.

back in the 70's on a milwaukee play ground , I perfected it.
Older players followed it , and the rest is history.

I know he didn't invent it, but it was the first time I saw someone use it so often. Sprewell, I saw him do it plenty. Could be because I watched Knick games with extreme interest... and no one else mattered. I'm sure others did it, Iverson definitely.

Who can find the oldest recorded stepback? That's a good question. Might make for a good article.

It was called the fadeaway jumper. Walt Frazier had the sweetest one but Wilt definitely had the shot.

Does the creator of that video still post here?

Stop by Frazier's joint and let him know you watched him make an art of the of the move.
