View Full Version : MJ won the 2nd three-peat playing completely different than he won the 1st one

He was an all-time rim attacker on his 1st three-peat and an all-time jumpshooter on his 2nd one.

So he was all-time level at every aspect of the game, and therefore could fit with any teammate (teammates play to capacity) and fit with any system (use the best strategy, aka ball movement).

These things allowed the highest team ceilings/Finals records..

Otoh, we see other greats have skill restrictions to ball-dominance (no elite jumpshooting skill, no assisted/off-ball skillset, no quick-iso skillset), so they don't fit with certain player types and can't use the best strategy, thus yielding lower team ceiling/Finals records.

Are you going to abandon this thread once you're backed into a corner by you own logic too?

Nah, Jordan wouldn't have lost in the 2nd round with the title favorite, blown a 3-1 lead or scored 14 points in a Game 7

Players age and find other ways. Amazing insight, OP.

Also, Air Toni Kucoc dunked from the free throw line it was nothing.

He won all of his titles playing in a trash system (the triangle) and with a trash brand (scoring champ brand) and with a trash sidekick (literally mo williams)

Maybe it's time to check out his comp & era

How would you know any of this? You didn't watch the NBA back then.

Yea thats why I find his 2nd 3peat more impressive/harder probably around 90% of his points came from jumpshots.

jordan was never thrown in a prison bubble either. 1995 he lost in the 2nd round and didn't go to game 7

jordan would of never got outscored by jason terry in a finals series

He wasn't the best player both times - Dumars won the 89' FMVP and was the better player in those years

Top 75 is supposed to be the greatest of all time, like Giannis' ring in 2021, or Dirk's 2011 ring, or Kawhi's 2019 ring

How in the f*ck does Pippen get in the top 75?... When did he ever play on that level of anywhere near?

It's preposterous, but the on-paper evaluations of new fans that never saw Pippen play simply see the 6 rings and rate him over Giannis or Dirk's 1 ring, even though Pippen was a 2nd option with weak stats and completely carried.

He's got an argument but I bet the majority of people would pick Isiah. He outproduced Dumars across the board in the regular season and playoffs, and led him in nearly every advanced metric. Plus Isiah was by far the Piston's best player in the only series they were challenged in the ECF.

Fair enough... But only Kobe fits the criteria if we disqualify those that didn't win FMVP... And Jordan also fits the criteria if we don't rate Pippen top 75 and therefore on the same level as Dirk, Giannis or Kawhi (guys with actual top 75 performance)
