Def top 10 I might even as high as #5. 2011 Derrick Rose was special.

Top 10 yes no on 5. Doubt people are taking that version of Rose over Kawhi/harden. Lebron ofc has a good case to be better too

Would you take him over Lillard? Lillard seems to be the placeholder for that 10th spot.

Just from the top 10 list I made yesterday

Durant
Kawhi
Giannis
Curry
Luka
Jokic
LeBron
Embiid
Harden
AD

Is there anyone you're definitively taking Rose over from that list?

I don't think he was necessarily top 5 in 2011, and IMO the top 10 in 2021 is stronger. Alot of the 2000s upper tier guys like Kobe, Duncan, Garnett were on the slide to varying degrees. You had Lebron, Wade, Dirk, Howard......was Kobe better than Rose in 2011? I'm too lazy to look up who were the top dogs that year after the aforementioned.

Are you joking? D-Rose was a beast in 2011, he had the 3-pointer he developed during the summer, buzzer-beaters, athletic dunks and was the leader of a team that won 60 games. I have always been amazed at how pre-injury D-Rose is underrated in this forum.

The fact that 2011 DRose would struggle to be a top 5-10 player today is evidence that he is still a beast right now, and that it is the competition that has improved/increased. Prime Rose would definitely have a field day with today's spacing, but present day Rose pretty much compensated for all his athletic ability with skill and finesse. If present day Rose could play 38 minutes for 70+ games per season, he would be a top 10 player in the league just as prime Rose would be.

He wasn't even top 5 in 2011.

He wasn't even top 5 in 2011.

I remember debates when it was clear that he would be MVP over whether he would actually make the All NBA 1st team.

He wasn't even top 5 in 2011.

He was the best according to Jon Barry.

Idk, seems kinda farfetched.

Answer in bold.

Other than that tho... it’s hard to find a spot for him. He wasnt a strong three point shooter in 2011, which would be a bigger problem now than it was then.

Interesting thing about Rose in 2011 was he couldn't shoot. He's like Morant on steroids, but Morant shoots better, so I don't know.
