Supply chain issues are happening everywhere and affecting stores and companies across the globe. I can't get anything to my store in time.

In an open letter Wednesday to heads of state attending the United Nations General Assembly, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and other industry groups warned of a "global transport system collapse" if governments do not restore freedom of movement to transport workers and give them priority to receive vaccines recognized by the World Health Organization.

The Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge accelerated in August, keeping the pressure on economic policymakers who are watching warily as supply chain issues and commodity costs threaten to keep price gains elevated for longer than they had expected.

The Personal Consumption Expenditures index continued to climb at its fastest pace since 1991, rising by 4.3 percent in the year through August. That beat out the prior month’s reading of 4.2 percent.

The monthly index also remained elevated, climbing by 0.4 percent for a second straight month.

Inflation has surged thanks to pandemic-related problems, including shipping trouble as strong demand for goods from Asia and elsewhere has taxed freight routes and pushed transit costs higher. Shortages in key parts have pushed up prices for everything from cars to washing machines. Officials at the Fed and in the White House have been clear that they expect those pressures to fade as the economy more fully reopens and business returns to normal.

It’s pretty bad. Even when we place an order well ahead of time for materials, they get partially filled or delayed.

I have equipment sitting in the shop since August because the parts needed to repair them have been on back order for months.

Inflation and supply shortages=2022 is going to start off bad.

the matthew perry gossip thread is LOL, but this is a legitimate issue the world is facing. this country especially, inflation is setting in and the supply chain issues will interpret themselves as increased demand, which means further cost increases on pretty much everything. shipping sucks, getting materials on time sucks, hell, even getting corrugated boxes sucks, everything has had a price increase and we still haven't felt the worst of the supply chain challenges, we will soon and it will SUCK.

my industry has had 2 price increases this year alone on a key material. that's unprecedented. 15% in april, another 5% in september. and word on the street is all the market swings are going to force another one within the coming months. it presents an awkward challenge for us estimators. i fear some of our key projects will get scrubbed from the price hikes.

i'd start stocking up long term on essentials. during the hysteria of the early pandemic days, we ran out of basic supplies from fear of supply shortages...well, we're actually heading into supply shortages for real now.

Your new Playstation is one of those ships and you ain't getting that shit any time soon. I just purchased a Used Xbox 360, a used original Xbox, and a used PS4 all on eBay. Cause I'll never see the new PS5 or the new XBox any time soon.

I'm not worried about Christmas shopping. I'm starting to worry about staying in business. I'm starting to see quite a few people in my industry affected severely by this. I'm getting scared if it's me that's going to feel the hurt soon. Today? Tomorrow? Next week? Scary stuff.

People are starting to hoard fvcking parts like it's toilet paper. :(
