not as good as the other two specials but still did a good job at pointing out the hypocrisy when it comes to the alphabet people

I saw it live since I'm everywhere at once. it was good but not great. his last special got political but at least it was mostly funny. this one was just a big ranting phoney apology. it was barely even comedy. it was like a pity party. just a ton of "feel sorry for me" bullshit. he was controversial but had to apologize for every joke and do a sob story to make up for it. he used a trans suicide victim as a shield to hide behind like how white people say "I know a black guy so it's cool"

his last 2 specials are hopefully his last 2 specials..

I love Chappelle's stand ups but this is probably one of his worst relatively speaking.

I thought it was alright.

Its 100% race / political at this point though, and can feel a little divise.

Often he says something that seems harmless and PC and then tracks back with a joke...

but he said "my problem all along has been white people" and there was no cliffhanger / punchline whatever.

it was a lot of victim talk, to be fairly honest.

but he has funny stories, expressions, ways of saying stuff... that you can listen to it very easily.

also lmao at him being afraid of covid to the point he feared a waitress coming to their table without a mask. this might have even been after he already had it.

he got vaccinated (probably) even though he already had it lol.

some stuff in there that make me think less of him as a complex person.

and at one point just randomly burning trump supporters without a redeeming punchline or counter to the other side.

he also believes women dont get the same amount of money for the same work. they do. more, even.

P.S: Why is there a cut with 7.24 left, on Netflix? It's weird. What did they skip there? Cause he goes on about just the thing he just said.

The victim talk was to point out the irony in gay people attacking black men. That’s why he did the cheeky “don’t punch down” to close

he went pretty hard on the gays. i am interested to see what people like PatrickChewing think about this special.

the joke about dababy was some hard hitting truth. people will weaponize their sexual orientation but let murder slide.

he said blacks and feminists are above trans people because they barely fought for shit and got vaulted into the top of the food chain without even really struggling

he said he's admittedly transphobic

He said the LGBT whatever movement is going better than Black empowerment and blacks ste jealous of that lol.

I‘m not fond of a lot of LGBetc stuff but thats stupid. They face more obstacles.

Shows you his perspective/bias though.

Nah man all things being equal like class and education neither really face that many obstacles in 2021.

Blacks have way more historical damage than the alphabet people due to the result of slavery and oppression so they're definitely are at more of a disadvantage

Derka

Nah, Chappelle's not getting canceled for these jokes. They're cringe-inducing, sure...but they're not hateful. His overall observation that people only care about trans rights because white men are doing it and people only care about Me Too because wealthy white women got involved is 1,000% on the mark.

Watched it last night. Its fine. I just think I've reached my limit with gay/trans and black/white jokes.

Look at all his 2017 specials...

especially equanimity.

He walked a different swagger / grace.

Face much lighter.

Sweet storytelling that makes you happy.

Varied jokes.

Compared to this one which is 100% white/black/trans/etc. politics.

Give the man a break. It’s been over a year since they could basically perform anywhere. Minus Texas and Florida. I’m not saying Dave hasn’t regressed but it might take some time for comics to “be back”

I find him foul mouth, juvenile, and boorish.

He needs to drop the cancer sticks and stop using -N- word.

Sounds like a publicity stunt if anything.

Netflix is no different than Facebook. They know controversy equals viewership.

The more people who hear about this “shocking controversy” the more people will be inclined to watch the special and see what it’s about.

Shit is fish in a barrel for dem corporate typeses.

No doubt about it, but if it actually works at Netflix and has an incentive to see the special do well... then I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to know it did something like this on purpose for promotion.

Ofc I wouldn't be surprised either if it's simply unhinged and had a genuine meltdown. But this is definitely the kind of textbook marketing you'd draw up when trying to promote a release.

If he was feeling the heat, he'd be more willing to bend. He's not doing that. I think if anything, he's upset that the press narrative around the whole thing is likely misconstrued because that's what the press does.

For my part, I have zero issues being 100% supportive of trans rights while also being 100% in support of any stand-up comic's right to say what they want and make fun of them and everyone else.

hold this L
10-28-2021, 11:53 AM
He said no to 50 million $ when he had far, far less money than he has now. It's pretty obvious Dave doesn't give a shit, otherwise he wouldn't continue making fun of them. He's past the point of feeling heat.
