Not. That space should actually be the defenders. It's always been viewed that way until recently when it comes to shooting. As shooter you should be entitled to the pace around your natural shooting motion. Nobody jumps foward like that on their natural shot. As a defender i should be allowed to recover and contest and jump foward either right in front of you or beside you without you launching yourself foward or sideways in an unnatural shooting motion just draw a foul. This was a great no call it will make the game way better.

If we're officiating consistently with what is or isn't a foul the past, say 5 seasons, then yes this is absolutely a foul. Defenders never have a right to their space anymore.
